Any of those could work, although you should have the creature be your race, and it have the magical ability to take a human form. Or the opposite, line an animagus that uses magic to take on the form of a creature. The only thing I care about is how powerful it is.

I'm not sure how Grinda would do that. Magic falls under powers, as of the moment Grinda has a wand, but you have not outlined what you wanted her to be able to do.

I mean, I put potion-making in Grinda's skill section, but I admit that I was not very specific when I said the thing about her being able to cast spells. I will specify. Magic isn't supposed to be her primary ability, but I can list all of the spells she can cast. I'll add in a weakness or two for the magic power to keep it balanced.

General Information

Name/alias: Catalina Albescu
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 19

Appearance: Catalina is remarkably tall for a woman, standing at 5'5". There isn't much fat on her, but she definitely gets enough to eat. Much of her 120 pounds is contributed to tone muscle mass from a rigorous training schedule. Not so much that it seems unladylike though. When dressed in a gown she looks as elegant as lords daughter should. Most of this beauty is from her facial features, and luscious hair. Straight, well kept locks black as night flow to her shoulder blades. Small slim eyebrows reside above large eyes hug the natural bone ridge. Irises of deep blue are laced by long eyelashes. Her nose is petite, her cheeks dimpleless and rosey. A pair of very full lips grab the attention of many a man. A scar on her jaw, and a few freckles do little to detract from her looks. She can commonly be found wearing a fencing outfit from day to day, for the sake of her lessons, and because she likes the freedom of movement. However, even when there is nothing planned she still tries to wear comfortable, more boyish clothing. Lord Albescu scolds her on it, but he isn't around enough to enforce proper dress. The exception being feasts hosted at his hold, during which Catalina doesn't have to be told what to wear. A collection of jewelry and dresses from her mother see her formal needs. None of her father's guest would guess that she had ever worn pants in her life.

Personality: Adventurous, friendly, and independent can all be used to describe Catalina. If she's not supposed to do it, then she wants to. Especially if her brothers are allowed to. Deep down she is jealous of them for being able to seek their own path, rather than having her day planned by her father. Hunting monsters sounds much more worthy and exciting than anything she ever does. Not even her brother's death discourages her. She cherishes the extra time he gave her before her arranged marriage, because then it'll be her husband telling her how to lead her life. Despite this she makes the best of each day, and takes her daily instructions to heart in case she is ever able to break free. To everyone except her father she is as cheery as can be. Part of this is that few treat her with ill, being the lords daughter and all. Everyone has the benefit of the doubt, but it possible to get on her bad side. In which case she is polite, but tries avoid the offender. So far nobody besides her tutors, and her father have caused her true grief.

Alignment: Neutral good

Affiliation: The Albescu faction

Bio/history: Catalina is the youngest of three male siblings. Her mother died in childbirth, which she suspect her father of not forgiving her for. There's no way to tell without a sister. Sheltered is the best way to describe her life. She can count the number of times she's been allowed to leave the castle on her fingers. From the age she was able to reasonable use a sword and bow, she has had almost daily instruction ever since. Other lessons include dancing, sewing, riding, strategy, alchemy, and magic. Before the time she was going to be wed, one of her brothers was slain in battle with a master vampire. Outraged and in grief her father offered her hand to any man to bring him the monsters head. A couple of years have passed, leaving Catalina unwed at late age. Especially for a noble. However lord Albescu still has not given up hope, and refuses to slide on his declaration. To this day many a knight hope to take the fiend in battle and claim a seat in the lords family.


Tactical Information

Skills: Catalina is a gifted markswoman, with the bow, and more recently the crossbow. Her swordsmanship surpasses many a knight. Particularly in her quickness. When it comes to riding, she isn't masterful, but she's good enough to fight on horseback reasonably well. Her knowledge of solo tactics is impressive, she is also suitable to command a small force. A number of useful potions, and deadly poisons are known by heart. Most unknown recipes are within her grasp of making by instruction.

Equipment: The only weapon she uses that is actually hers is a magical silver longsword, which remains unnamed.

Mount/pet: A black mare named Gloria.

Home: Albescu keep. It defences is what you'd expect out of a full manned castle owned by a renown monster slayer.

Power: Catalina has been trained by a lesser mage ever since it was discovered that she had the gift. Her knowledge is quite rudimentary, but her natural talent is high. Grabbing objects, minor summonings, simple illusions, and basic elemental spells is about the extent of her currently ability. This will improve further over time.

Weaknesses/limitations/drawbacks: Catalina lacks the upperbody strength of males. While she is well versed at combat, she has never been in a true fight. Pain from deep wounds, and killing another being are things she has not been introduced to.

Name/alias: Alastair Solem
Race: Werewolf

Age: 53
Appearance: In human form, Alastair is a mountain of a man. He is of above-average height for Medieval Europe, being around 5’11”. He has a very large build with well-defined muscles. He has a wide chest with muscular shoulders and large hands and feet. Alastair has a full mane of salt-and-pepper hair combed back on his head neatly. Alastair has a full salt-and pepper beard and mustache. He has a large forehead and thick grey eyebrows. Alastair’s eyes are ice blue and look slightly hostile. He looks almost unapproachable and normally has a somber, serious appearance to him. A frown is almost permanently installed on his face, as if he’s never quite satisfied. Alastair wears a brown long-sleeved tunic with a white fur lining and matching brown Thorsberg trousers. On his feet is a pair of brown dragonhide boots and brown dragonhide gloves. Alastair also wears a thick brown dragonhide belt and a thick brown traveling cloak.

When in wolf form, Alastair is of slightly above-average size, being about nine feet tall. He has a massive muscular build and shaggy white fur. His eyes glow blue and his claws are razor sharp and black.

Personality: Alastair is very Sanguine. That’s right! I just used your code word as an adjective that means absolutely nothing! SUCK IT!!! But yeah, I’m not doing this section.

Alignment: Neutral good
Affiliation: Alastair is a member of the Lunae pack, and is a friend of Sir John Copeland. They often fight monsters together.

Bio/history:

Skills: Alastair is a skilled fighter and an even more skilled blacksmith. He is adept at forging complex and intricate weapons (though he needs to be careful when handling silver). Alastair is a pretty good cook as well (though he’s known to cook his steaks rather raw Razz). He has learned from John the ways of the monster hunter, and has rudimentary knowledge of how to harm supernatural creatures.
Equipment: Alastair doesn’t wear armor, but he carries a few weapons to assist him when in human form. Alastair carries a four foot silver-and-tungsten longsword with him, as well as a wineskin filled with holy water and a small sack filled with salt. Hanging from his belt is a steel hatchet with a silver edge.
Mount/pet: Alastair rides a grey clydesdale horse, but has no other pets or mounts.
Home: Alastair lives in a room in John’s home in the old guard tower in the woods.

Power: Being a werewolf, Alastair has all of the normal abilities that comes with being one. He can transform into a wolf whenever he wants to or under a full moon. He is supernaturally strong and fast, and is impervious to mortal weapons (save silver). He has an increased healing factor, allowing him to heal from wounds quickly. He also has night vision and immunity to poison and disease. Alastair can commune with other wolves.

Weaknesses/limitations/drawbacks: Alastair has the normal weaknesses of any werewolf; he can be wounded by silver, magic, and fire, and is deathly allergic to wolfsbane. The weakness to silver is especially compounded since both of Alastair’s weapons when in human form are made of silver.

My Simurgh character is complete. She is a very strong creature, but her main chronic weakness is that she has no sort of defense against elemental attacks, nor does she have resistance to any sort of weapon.

General Information

Name/alias: Cadenza
Race: Simurgh
Gender: Female
Age: 28

Appearance: disguised as a human, Cadenza is rather striking in appearance, appearing as a slender, beautiful woman that stands at a reasonable 5’6”. She possesses an oval-shaped face, sharp cheekbones, and a patrician nose, with a wide mouth and full lips. She has deep-set eyes, and overall there is something vaguely canine-like about her face, however, unlike a werewolf, she does not have excessive hair, and her eyebrows are well-shaped all the time, naturally arched. Her almond-shaped eyes are a beautiful shade of hazel, shifting between light brown and a startling shade of green, and accented by long, dark eyelashes. She has straight brunette hair with a notable bronze-colored tinge to it, and she keeps it braided and wrapped about her head in a modest, yet uncovered style, which may or may not be acceptable, depending on location, some towns allow it, others do not, though she only leaves it uncovered in private. In public, she wears a white headscarf to cover her hair. She wears a dark brown dress with loose sleeves, with a white apron over it, and long white stockings underneath sturdy black wooden clogs.

Upon becoming a Simurgh, Cadenza becomes a gigantic bird-like creature resembling a peacock that rivals most dragons or wyverns in size, having a length of 20 feet from the tip of her snout to the end of her longest tail plume, and having a gigantic wingspan of 30 feet. Her entire body is covered with varying shades of bronze and copper-colored feathers that end in seemingly sharpened points, reflecting light with an almost metallic iridescence. This trails onto the base of her tail, which is much like that of a male peacock’s in form, although with different colors, the main parts of the pattern of the tail being varying shades of bronze and copper, with the eyespots being bright shades of gold. The upper part of her legs are coated but feathers, but at the joint they give way to the tawny-gold fur, morphing into the powerful retractable claws of a lioness, but on a much larger scale, and the dewclaws having moved down and become working digits that allow her to grip things. Her long, majestic neck ends with the head of a dog’s, with a long, pointed, box-like snout and small, yet pricked ears with soft points to them, like a wolf’s ears. The feathers of the neck smoothly blend with the short, golden tawny fur of the dog-like face, bearing the same hazel-shade of eyes that make Cadenza recognizable from her human form. Her nose, however, which should be wet and black, instead is a bronze-like piece that merges seamlessly into the skin of the snout, and ends with a very sharp, hooked point like a beak, with thirty small holes like nostrils instead, fifteen on each side. When air is drawn through these, a beautiful, flute-like sound is produced. A similar plate can be found on the lower jaw, although the face is still distinctly dog-like. Cadenza also has teeth in her dog-like mouth, which are sharp and glint like ivory. Despite having a peacock-like form, her wings are much larger than an average peacock’s, and therefore, she is not hindered in flight by her tail feathers. The feathers of her wings are long and sharp in appearance, resembling blades.

Personality: In myths, Simurghs were known to be benevolent (Mostly female) creatures whose presence purified waters and land, and thus brought fertility and growth. However, these myths concentrated exclusively on the motherly aspects of those that had children, and nothing was said of what happened to the children of mothers who were slain. Having lost her mother at a young age to an inexperienced monster hunter who could not distinguish friend from foe, and the only hatchling that survived, Cadenza’s originally good and innocent heart became tainted by darkness and anger, and the belief that hunters did more harm than good, because they killed without knowing their target, and therefore killed just as many good magical creatures as they did bad ones. As a result, Cadenza regards monster hunters alone with sheer hatred that causes her to lash out and inflict suffering on them and on anyone that feels kindness towards them, doing so simply to punish them for crimes she believes they have committed against her and other magical beings. Because of her anger, her magic has become corrupted by darkness, and she now has the ability to make thorns grow in gardens, and algae to grow in the water and make it undrinkable. She can control this, however, and notably refrains from harming people who have a lack of understanding for monster hunters, or regard them as bad luck, instead rewarding them by causing wild yet edible plants to grow nearby. This may be because she isn’t actually corrupted by darkness, but is simply exerting control over what her magic affects. Notably, Cadenza doesn’t have any sort of evil alignment, and in fact has no formal view of the current conflicts, but she can probably be persuaded to either side, depending on the pros and cons of each. Getting back at monster hunters is a good way to make her into ally, although most people will want to know why she has such a powerful grudge, or even why she goes against the generally peaceful nature of her kind.

Affiliation: None

Bio/history: As a Simurgh, Cadenza has no genuine ties to humanity, but does have the magical ability to transform into one. How she was born was that she actually hatched from an egg as a baby, and was raised by a mother of her own kind among four other brothers and sisters (Male Simurghs exist, people just don’t care much about them because they aren’t in any legends). They were raised up until they were old enough to be taught how to fly, but at this time, a monster hunter discovered the nest. A new and inexperienced fighter, the monster hunter had no formal knowledge of what a Simurgh was, and immediately jumped to the conclusion that they were bad creatures, proceeding to kill the children in the nest one at a time. At this time, Cadenza’s mother arrived, and attacked the hunter, and ordered her last living child to fly away and not look back. Cadenza, too young to know any better, did fly away, but looked back to see what happened, only to witness the monster hunter kill her mother, and then take her head for a trophy. At this moment, Cadenza knew what the hunter was, and immediately decided that hunters had no good cause to serve, because he had killed her mother, and moreover, her children, when the Simurgh race itself was regarded as a good thing that everyone would have preferred to have been spared. Since then, Cadenza has been completely alone, and travels between towns, delivering punishments to people she thinks have wronged her for trusting the hunters to properly do their job. She does have a home to return to, however.

Tactical Information

Skills: In human form, Cadenza is particularly known for her incredible precision skills, particularly with throwing daggers, or any sharp object, for that matter, always managing to perfectly hit her targets. Most people don’t realize this has to deal with her natural abilities as a Simurgh. She doesn’t really find this skill useful in human form, however, and because her weapon of choice is her sharp feathers, she doesn’t carry any weapons with her.

Home: Due to the sheer thickness of most fir forests in the natural countryside, almost any sort of home can be hidden in the woods, and this includes the large cave hidden in a steep rocky Cliffside that can only be reached with ease by flying creatures. All other living things that lack wings or the power to levitate must scale up the side to reach the opening, and that can take a long time, enough where they are likely to be caught when Cadenza comes back home. Anything not adapted to climbing can struggle, and even creatures such as werebeasts and the like are hindered by false steps that cause them to slip and fall, and the fact that soil tactfully placed in small hollows in the cliff, and made to have thorns and brambles grow in them make the task no easier. They are also completely exposed while climbing up, and this makes them easy targets of the cave’s sole resident. The task of descending down into the cave from the top of the cliff is near impossible, as Cadenza has intentionally placed a large patch of dense brambles all around the edge of the cliff, which will snare anyone that gets too close, either clothing, fur, or feathers. This lair, however, was made more to deter human hunters, rather than werebeasts or vampires, although there is no evidence of anyone ever having found it. The entrance of the cave is a tunnel that leads to a gigantic rounded dome of a chamber, with a flattened floor, the rock having been carved out by sharp feathers, and all rough edges shaved down. In the back of the room there is a sort of alcove formed by the stone, forming the boundaries of a massive nest, formed by the careful arrangement of animal furs that consist of a variety of different creatures. The stone of the cave itself is a pale grey stone filled with veins of lighter and darker colors.

Power: As a Simurgh, Cadenza possesses incredible power that can rival that of most dragon-like creatures, such as wyverns. Having great size, but generally not weighing as much, as well as lacking thick armored scales, she generally has a more aerodynamic shape, and therefore flies very fast, enough to surpass most other flying creatures, such as dragons, and the flying forms of vampires. Her feathers, being almost like very thin metal in nature, actually provide little protection when used as armor and can be pierced by even non-magical weapons, but their edges are sharper than razors, and when touched can easily cut through most impure materials, such as stone, causing them to be a defense that damages the attacker, rather than protecting the one wearing them. Cadenza has the power to launch these feathers at enemies with alarming accuracy, and can also form them on her arms in human form, therefore having a limitless supply of throwing weapons, although their use will typically give her away as something inhuman. Because she can launch them, Cadenza’s feathers grow back with incredible speed, taking only a few seconds to grow back in. Aside from her only distance-fighting ability, Cadenza’s incredibly strong lion-like legs act as weapons in their own way, having enough power to crush bones, and claws that can bypass the damage reduction of werebeasts and vampires. Cadenza’s teeth have a similar magical property, and this ability also extends to her feathers. Like werewolves, Cadenza’s dog-like features allow her to understand the speech of wolves, and she can also talk to birds, even ones with magical properties. Her senses are generally enhanced, much like those belonging to a werewolf in wolf form. Her other abilities, which are more subtle, and cannot have any use in combat, is that Cadenza can stimulate the growth of plants around her, causing them to grow faster or slower, although this ability is not capable of causing vines to sprout up and snare enemies, and it still takes several days for influenced plants to grow.

Weaknesses/limitations/drawbacks: Cadenza’s first, and perhaps most major weakness of all is that while she has many abilities that can easily harm creatures that are generally rapid healers and immune to damage, she has no sort of special damage resistance herself. This means that despite what rapid re-growth of her feathers might lead others to think, she does not rapidly heal from wounds others inflict on her person, and weapons used against her do not require any sort of special magic or material to harm her. This means that monster hunters and other mythical beings are not the only ones that can injure and kill her, any average human can take an axe or pitchfork and do considerable damage to her person before she kills them, making her incredible swift speed and sharp, damaging feathers the only true defenses she has against injury. She has no elemental resistance, and thus any form of magic can harm her. She has no special weakness, like vampires or werebeasts, and there is no object that can repel her completely or keep her from entering someone’s home or chasing them, but she has a terrible, chronic fear and dislike for snakes, and thus she can be held off for a time by shed snakeskin.
