The Chaos Theory (Posting is fine now) Empty
PostSubject: The Chaos Theory (Posting is fine now)   The Chaos Theory (Posting is fine now) EmptyTue Nov 06, 2012 6:53 pm

The sphere had been stolen, and Exo wasn’t sure if it should be happy or mad, after all, it did plan the whole thing, although, it wasn’t exactly ‘it’ then. But now that the sphere had been stolen, it didn’t seem like such a good idea, what with it being a accumulation of quantum strings, wrapped around a graphine computer chip. In other words, a key that fit all doors, well, as long as they were digital. Got any secret plans? well, not anymore. Once activated the sphere was designed to find and publish every file that ever came into contact with the ‘Ner server’ that was supposed to be launched in one week’s time. The server consisted of the largest store of quantum foam wound up inside a black hole. This large and also incredibly small instant internet device used the warpage of space time near the black hole in combination with S.T.C, which is the largest black hole research station in the known universe, completely encompassing the central black hole of the Andromeda galaxy. It was also the largest public time machine available. Well, at least it would be as soon as it went public along with Ner.

The idea had been that Ner, having the appeal of instant communication throughout the galaxy using the network of the universe interconnected with wormholes, would replace the ‘modern system’ of communication which consisted of much smaller, regionalized sectors that used whimp beams as the basis of their communication. However, the final twist was the fact that the whole thing was to be ‘eavesdropped’ on by the sphere, which was now in the hands of Evo Louton. As had been planned. He didn’t know this of course, he thought he had just waltzed in and stolen it, fair and square. Exo burst into a fit of laughter, although there was no humor in it, The idea of Evo Luton breaking into S.T.C and stealing the sphere of his own devises was certainly a funny one. However, it was most definitely not funny how he did manage to steal it, or the clever little way out he had left for them to find. It scowled, no one back at HQ would like this at all. Granted, most of them didn’t have very good senses of humor, but even those that did probably would still want to strangle it.

It turned its ship around, pulling out of the dock on the farthest section out of S.T.C where the gravity was almost non existent. It hit a series of buttons on the dash and the small ship vanished, leaving S.T.C spiraling down into chaos, alert lights blaring and the occupants either evacuating or hiding. The ship sunk like a lead block through what looked like complete blackness, occasionally interspersed with gravity lumps where large objects were which caused you to be pulled violently towards them, and what looked like liquid light, which was just regular light, except it was moving slower than you were. Weirdly, you couldn’t see the light until you ran into it, you couldn’t see it from far away and even when you did see it, it didn’t exactly travel in a straight line which scrambled what little image your eyes could detect.Basically, by the time your eyes did detect it, it pretty much looked like a multi color splat mark. Another problem of breaking the universal speed limit was that you could in no way see your ships controls, which had obvious repercussions. The ship reappeared with an audible electric CRACK inside the small floating refueling station that was placed strategically in the middle of four major flight paths.

The station was a large glass orb with what amounted to a small planet inside except it was only about four miles square and a complete tourist trap. These things, Exo reflected, operated on a similar basis as S.T.C did, the ‘planet’ was actually a super dense brown dwarf, and at its surface it was only 103 degrees, about the typical summer temperature on the typical life infested planet, if you lived on the equator. The catch was that there was no light, apart from the artificial light that the shops and store windows provided, and the heat did not emanate from the sky, rather the ground. Overall, it was a rather weird place.

The ship had appeared in a parking lot outside the spot where the problem had been hatched, a innocent looking Panera Bread store, complete with faded brick walls and the tantalizing smell of fresh baked pastries. Exo opened its ship’s door and stepped out, locking the ship behind it. It sighed, one more life to take, one more problem to make then one last rule to break. Heh, it even had a rhyme to it.

Hello and welcome to The Chaos Theory! This is a stat based Roll play where we cycle through various disasters such as a planned nuclear strike and your characters can ether choose to aid in the attempt or try and stop it. I’ll be sitting back here at HQ calculating the probability of your success or failure, eating salt n’ vinegar potato chips.

Now I know the stat based thing makes people think math and restrictions, it will only be used in circumstances that it would cut down on the amount of technical stuff you have to read. For example, I'm a stickler for paradoxes and quantum physics, but I've been told several times by multiple people that they find the subject matter rather mundane and boring. So, instead of explaining via the Ooc in great technical detail what is impossible in a set circumstance, I'll calculate the probability of the event happening behind the green screen and write the results only, so as not to bore anyone with my technical hoo-ha.

Now, if you would like to join, please fill out this form:
Name:
Age:
Species:
Appearance:

Bio:
Weapon/s of choice:

Stats: You get 20 points to distribute as you see fit here, it is possible to use negatives, although not recommended unless you’re good with unbalanced characters.

Dexterity:
Stealth:
Strength:
Charisma:
Constitution:
Morale:

Now, to start, you are in a bread co on a pit stop planet that is a complete tourist trap about a month before the above happens, you may be able to locate a few drug dealers, and other low lives, maybe even a mini criminal network, although, on this small of a planet, its ether going to be a listening post or a bunch of stupid teens with nothing to do.

But that’s beside the point, the plot starts at S.T.C which is undiscovered at this point and will serve as a hotel of sorts that surrounds a black hole, details will be revealed later. So, just keep in mind your characters have about 15 minutes at the Bread co. before they should move to S.T.C.

Other than that, it is now okay to post. Updates regarding the current situation in the IC will be posted as needed in the above section.

Now, finally, the rules.
1: Do not cuss for the sake of cussing, it is a art and may only be exhibited correctly by the masters of it.
2: Do not go into details about the mating habits of your characters.
3: No trolling, flaming or any other kind of senseless insulting that doesn't accomplish anything useful.
4: Please, be literate, no screen writing, text talk unless your character is texting another character.
5: Do not god mod of power play that is for the mods only.
6: Put 'Splodeeverythingwin!' in the other section on their character sheet.
7: Have fun, and give suggestions.

Name: January

Age: 263

Species: Sable

Spoiler:

Appearance: January stands at a height of four feet and three inches. Most of her skin is a deep, dark gray, which gradients to an aesthetic white at her head. Her eyes in particular sparkle with twisting ribbons of blue, green, and pink, all against an underlying ebony that is frightful to behold against such brightness. She wears strange drapes of cloth, multicolored with dim and unsaturated shades, in the common Sabilic fashion of baggy cloth trousers and shirts under a flowing robe. Having worn the strange fabric all of her life, she moves quite nimbly, even with its restrictions.

Personality: There is not much else to apply to January’s manners than ‘pensive.’ She is cautious in all of her doings, be they social, intellectual, or any other forms of engagement. Though not a particularly fast talker, what she lacks – severely – in pacing she makes up for by the quality of her words. Quite social and friendly, though rarely up front about it, January seeks always to find a more effective and productive solution to any given quagmire than the one she has previously conceived. Unfortunately this can, on occasion, be a counter-productive habit, as it is common for her to spend so long mulling a concern over that the solution she would have whisked into thought is rendered superfluous by the sheer time she took in devising it. Despite this, January is an enthrallingly interesting individual, if properly engaged, and a dedicated prophet of knowledge and philosophy.

Bio: As per the usual Sable tradition, January was removed from the care of her parents at a young age to be placed into private custody of a professional child-raiser. For her first 100 years, she roamed the galaxy under the watchful and caring gaze of this guide, at which point she left her company and set out on her own. She has been hopping between jobs – her first instinct, also as usual, being to become a child-raiser herself, but that was a quick and clear flop – ever since, and has picked up basic skills in the areas of journalism, botanical field study, animal care, social work, and fast-food cooking. January is currently in between jobs after having been fired (and jailed for thirty years) from the Third Interstellar Bank for miscalculating the annual budget. It was only a few quintillion dollars that went missing, gawsh.

Weapon/s of choice: January carries upon her person, at all times, a Mechanical Eye, which is designed to manipulate photon spin and velocity. A skilled operator, such as herself, may use it to see through, past, over, under, around, inside, and generally all about a wide variety of objects; it is a telescope, a microscope, and several other less-earthly devices all packed into a small cylinder of wire and metal. It is considered a ‘weapon’ because certain patterns, when programmed inside the device, allow for a flash of bright light to collect and move according to the operator’s will. Photons in such extreme concentrations are capable of blinding, burning, and generally rendering lame the average creature. This function, unfortunately, is extremely taxing upon the Mechanical Eye’s energy reserves, and it must be charged fairly soon after such intense usage.
