When everyone was in place, the violet symbols on the Obelisk brightened, to the point that they became a blinding white glare. Anyone who had been looking at the gigantic pillar was forced to shield their eyes. The light of the tower shot into the sky like a beacon, and seemed to become a disk, which stretched over the group of teens. It whirled there, as the structure became safe to look at once more, although the symbols were still pure white. Again, a voice seemed to emanate from the Obelisk.
"Receive your Mark of the Kaiju..."
Before anyone could react to this statement, or even process what it meant, the hovering disk of light seemed to shatter, splitting into streams of energy, which dove down in arcs, and collided with each person, enveloping them, and seeking for a place to put each symbol. After a moment, each individual felt somewhere on their body, a painful sensation, as though they were being branded by a hot iron. The strange power etched itself into their skin, manifesting in a strange mark, each unique in appearance, and linked to something different. For the rest of their lives, the teens would bear their mark, and nothing could remove them, because the power would never leave them. When each beam of light had done its job, it still enveloped its individual person, as the Obelisk spoke one final time.
"It is done..."
Suddenly, the light dissipated around the teens, the pain suddenly gone, and the world to which they had been sent having vanished. Once more, they were all standing in the park, and where the strange violet light had been, there was nothing. It was as though nothing had happened at all, and yet, everyone who had experienced it would know the truth. It had occurred, and the very proof of the event was now burned into their skin.
