Well, when you don't have a signal, the battery will last longer when it isn't looking for one.
Though that would be counterproductive to an attempt to talk to us.

Trenderman is currently wearing a wife beater, sunglasses, shorts, a pair of vans, and a backwards ball cap. He's also acting like a jerk. I'm not speaking to him often right now.

Oh yeah, he has recently been taking selfies of himself shirtless with his phone and sending them to girls on facebook.
