| WEll we've been here 6 years and we've had two trees fall. Last time it only got our decorative wishing well. I Still haven't picked up the bricks left from that. it happened a couple of years back. I'm a lazy guy. We did have a lot of other trees trimmed and cut down last fall though. So less mess and less trees to worry over. | |

| I'm not saying it isn't funny, my own sense of humor just isn't really something that does well with most jokes. It's mostly ironic, or witty, spur-of-the-moment stuff based on a situation. Well, also, that, and at work I have something of a running gag going on.
The running gag in question? A long time ago, I was asked to make mice out of play-dough that each weighed 25 grams. I made a large number, and filled an entire drawer in my desk with them. Of course, everyone told me they couldn't use the mice until someone did thermal testing on the play-dough. So? The mice stayed in my desk. For pretty much an entire year.
As of yet, people have still not conducted that thermal testing, and the mice continue to take up an entire drawer in my desk.

| Well I do admit I have a dark sense of humor. So yeah.
You'd die laughing where I work. Everything is a running gag there. The Plater break? Lindsay did it, but it's still my fault. I wasn't there? Me not bring there broke it. The heat this time of year is god awful. I keep telling the ladies to turn the Sexy down a notch to cool things off but they refuse. All kinds of stuff like that.

| Eh, that's not really what happens where I personally work. Engineering humor is basically hilarious stuff disguised in actual scientific process.
Ever hear about Ben the mouse?
Did I mention that he was supposed to be a (Yet another) thermal sample? Like my play-dough mice?
I also forgot to mention, Ben isn't an actual mouse. He's half of a red potato piece with a wedge cut on the front to look like a nose, and there's two little squares and a tail stuck on it made from zip ties that we intended to have look like ears and a tail.
Of course, because the cryogenics testing was for NASA, the engineers up in Huntsville like to see photographs of what we're doing (There's an ongoing joke war or something between UAB engineers and NASA engineers, or something of that nature). Naturally, we stuck Ben the Mouse in a plastic bag, and wrote, "Ben's House" on the plastic bag.
....of course, in the paperwork, it doesn't say all of this. It just says, '25g potato sample'.

| Well, actually, there was a story someone told me about a former employee that they used to call 'Bandsaw'. They had trouble keeping it together telling the story, it was that hilarious.
The story goes, this guy was a Russian immigrant, but when he spoke English, he sounded like he came from Brooklyn. That's the first notable thing, just because it's such a stark contrast. It's irrelevant to the point, but it's interesting, anyway.
The reason he got fired? Imagine a thousand-something-dollar circuit board. You don't just mishandle those, right? You always keep them in special, anti-static bags, and you handle them on anti-static mats and wear a grounding band around your wrist in an ESD-safe area, and you don't even move fast because that could generate static, too. All of the stuff you do is high-precision, usually with fancy magnifying tools, just because you need to see what you're doing. The most sensitive part of the engineer's work involves this. If you don't do all of these things, the part probably has to be scrapped, and a non-conformance report has to get filed, because you weren't following the rules.
Now imagine a guy throwing all the rules out the window, and putting this said circuit board on the bandsaw, a gigantic, low-precision power tool and one that does not get used for ESD anything, and cutting notches in it that way, instead of using high-precision tools, like we're supposed to use.
Jargon aside, what this guy did was the equivalent of trying to crack an egg with a sledgehammer.

| Yeah.... I'm careful just adding a new part to my desktop. Buddy of mine was nice enough to send me a bare bones gaming rig to work on. He added the GPU ram and motherboard. He said the rest was up to me. It now has a Blueray drive 4 TB of space and 24 inch monitor.
Looking at that I now understand why I'm currently broke.

| The phrase "dark humor" makes me cringe, especially when the jokes shared are usually pretty tame. Puns and satire is my exciting stuff though. And mm, irony. If I ever get narcissistic, that's the joke. And flirting. Man, aren't I ever the flirt. - Akira wrote:

And hey Lieo. Nice to hear from you again. How is life on your end? Ok. Lots of work, usually seven days in a row & lots of overtime. 12 hour factory shifts are tough, especially if you're working in 100+ degrees F half the time. But I get lots of $$$. I don't see reason to censor the image for "language", especially since everyone I've seen here so far is a legal adult. We should be mature and emotionally stable enough to handle the f bomb.

| I used to have a robotics coach in high school who made puns and jokes on a constant basis. The story goes, though, that while most of the jokes he told were wonderful, his puns, in general, were really lousy puns. Some people just kind of shake their head at that, but in my own opinion, it takes real confidence to tell horrible puns and keep going without a pause. The other person helping the robotics team, my engineering teacher, was the guy who pretty much kept doing jokes along the lines of, "Oh, if you keep trying this, maybe one day, you'll be as great as yours truly," And then he would kind of just tilt his chin up, and he'd somehow do all of this with a straight face, but you knew from the tone he was joking around. ...Did I also mention both of these teachers messed with members of the robotics team with the old measuring-tape trick? You stretch out the measuring tape and keep tapping people lightly on the head with it, and they'll keep rubbing their head like there's a spider or something bugging them. Basically, it's just doing this stuff to see how long it takes for them to realize what's going on and turn around and catch them in the act. ....Oh....also, tiny, tiny, harmless blocks of soft wood or a ball of paper getting tossed at you from across the room, and you look in their direction and then they look away, trying to pretend that they weren't doing anything. - At This Point I Wound Up Ranting About How Much I Love and Admire The Authority Figures in My Life, So I Just Made This Spoiler Because you Probably Don't Care to Read All of It.:
...Now, the other thing I need to mention, this stuff didn't happen during normal school hours. The regular students these teachers got were the kind that goofed off, had no respect for authority, and just in general, didn't treat the people in charge with respect. My teachers had a lot of good advice about life in general. They'd warn people that the same psychology that led to 'senioritis' or 'senior skip days', would indicate a lack of integrity to employers, which was not good for their job outlook. They also took their own time to help people who asked for assistance. I even passed physics because my robotics coach had a unique way of explaining stuff, and he was able to turn all of the confusing gibberish into something I understood (He was a math teacher).
Unfortunately, while serious students loved these two teachers, the ones who didn't really care (Like the regular engineering students who skipped when hunting season started, or the kids that refused to do their homework), just rolled their eyes, and said nasty stuff behind their backs. The girls were catty, they'd insult life advice that they really should have taken more seriously. The guys would completely ignore the 'no horseplay in the shop' rule, and they'd throw heavy, three-pound metal brackets across the room (This isn't an exaggeration, one time I nearly got hit in the head with one of those. It was a disaster waiting to happen). For the robotics coach, people would blame him when they were too lazy to do their own homework. They really hated the robotics coach, because when they didn't do what they were told, he actually held them accountable, and considering the wit of this guy, it wasn't a good idea to talk back to him, either.
These two teachers, I give them a lot of credit, because in particular, the engineering teacher is the main reason I have my job as an intern where I work. My boss was one of his contacts, and he had promised to send two of his students their way. He gave me the opportunity to submit a resume, and then I was able to go into the facility, take a tour, and the funny thing is, my boss and the people in charge were goofballs, just like my teacher. I wound up completing an interview, and I was having such a good time talking to these guys, I didn't even know that I was doing a job interview until after the fact.
I should also mention, not only did I get the job, but also, a little while later, I got a phone call from my engineering teacher, and he told me that I had been offered a scholarship. It was a scholarship I'd never applied for, but as it turns out, he had actually gone out of his way to get me recommended, and they actually offered it to me, based on his recommendation. I got to go to an award ceremony that I never thought I'd attend, and I got to go up and accept my scholarship, while my engineering teacher got a Presidential Teacher of The Year award, and my teacher's father (His dad actually lives in my neighborhood), got a really special community service award.
Now, a year later, I do more for the people I work with than what I think a normal intern gets trusted with. They asked me to stay on top of the amount of hours each of our machines has been operating, so we know when to replace parts. They want me to keep track of what goes onto the ISS and what comes back down, and to make sure that all the paperwork can be found. I've done filing work for a lot of my coworkers, and I've even designed a part that was officially approved for use at the facility.
Actually, though, I was only supposed to work during the summer months, but I ran into a cleaning lady who works there (Yes, a cleaning lady said something that had a lasting positive impact on my life), and she told me that if I wanted to keep working there, she was sure that I could ask and they would let me come in during time openings during the fall and spring terms. I was originally not going to do that, and just be a student with no job at all while I took classes. I didn't even think I had an option, but as it turns out, they gave me indefinite access to the building, and now I come in and work where my schedule allows it.
Well....I wound up making a gigantic rant again, so into a spoiler this goes. If you read this, I'm glad you felt it would be worth your time.
...I knew a lot of decidedly crazy people in my life.

Interesting. I'm curious, what kind of factory is it? Also, yeah I don't mind the language but there's been a couple people here voice their discomfort to me about profanity in the forum. Normally I wouldn't even censor words if everyone was as chill about it as I am but sadly they aren't.

We were working 6 or 7 days a week as well, but our new CEO is cutting back on overtime to try and save some money.

| I'm not the type to bash moderators, but...well...the fact that it was Arabic was probably the only reason they could cite as for why they banned you. If they try to say it was just being disruptive for a foreign language, then they should also go ahead and ban people for all the other things that are clearly not English. | |

I came up with the original idea for it actually.

| I get whatshisface isn't here, but just saying for the sake of it being said: I wasn't playing chicken with slime nor was I protesting Slime in particular. The comment was made more in mind of making a mockery of the whole situation. There has to be things that are actually worth arguing over.
That being said, yeah, Slime is kind of a dumb ass. He can play the "I'm a foreigner too" card as much as he wants, but truth is he's always been like an entitled child half the time.
