Expressing my complaints over the use of a .22 pistol in a Mars colony in 2154.

Lieo has a point, so that's all I have to say on the matter. I never expected that I'd get this wrapped up in the debate. If you're set on it being 29,990ºC then go for it.

Because the logical equivalent of "why the hell not" while referring to .22 pistols in 2154 is a squad of United States special Covert Ops. using wooden clubs as the heaviest firepower they have in their arsenal.

What they should really do is carry empty rocket launchers and beat people with those.

Rocket launchers are far too heavy! What they should REALLY do is take the rockets out and then beat the enemies with those. Now that's critical thinking.

Well, depending on the missiles, they might be able to achieve critical mass as a bonus to their copious amounts of critical thinking.

Fine you win, but I think that plasma technology will have improved by 2154

I don't see it as a victory, though I have to admit I learned a lot about plasma cutting along the way.

And of course the technology will have advanced, however I'd be willing to wager that most new developments will be focusing on safety and efficiency.
