Endurance: The Next Chapter (IC)

Ketryn looked between Thray and Praceus. Thray. Then Praecus. She wasn sure what to do, now. Thray answered enotionlessly, and he seemed so tired and worn out... Was he being earnest?

Ketryn glanced at Kydi. He had been kind the entire time, willing to talk- and there weren't any complaints about him. And Kydi trusted Thray. Ketryn then looked at Praecus once again.

Him she had a huge dislike for. But he made a good point about Thray. If what they were saying was true, Theay had killed many. Ketryn cleared her throat, though it was just a part of her voice box- not an actual throat. She ha to think logical now. She had been letting her emotions get in the way. Ketryn just remained silent, then. It was the only thing that would make the most sense doing as she waited for a reply to Thray's question.

Nyx was having a very bad day.
First, she had been rescued from death, on a dead ship, by Invaders that weren't looking to kill or enslave her, which admittedly hadn't been a bad thing (yet).
But then she had been knocked unconscious in a chaotic escape from another Invader ship, and had been shot with a stun gun barely two minutes after waking up.

Her head felt like it had been crushed by a large building, and combined with the painful throbbing, and the fact that the world was spinning alarmingly, was not serving to improve her mood in the slightest.
In fact, the only things currently stopping her from shredding their captors, were a very flimsy set of prison bars, a minuscule amount of common sense, and many years as a thief, using her head to out-think people she wanted to steal things from.

Rather than attack them immediately, risking failure and stronger imprisonment, she decided to make herself look as much their ally as she could, using it to find a way to get them all out.
There was only one way she could see to do that.

"They're right, you know. I despise the Invaders; they destroyed my home, my people, my friends and family. For all I know, I'm the last surviving member of my species, thanks to them. I hold no love for them, and I certainly will not defend them if given a choice."
She knew exactly what they would think of her, and she hated it more than anything, but gaining the trust of their captors seemed to be the only way to ever get out of this place. She'd apologize later, if they managed to escape.

Vetrys would've given Praceus a sideways look, if he didn't know better. He was a great leader, and smart, but Vetrys would never approve of his occasional cruelty. Vetrys did, however, find the birdlike creature amusing. As if he hadn't heard that one before. Perhaps it was true, but one could never know. Their question still stood. What would happen to the prisoners?

"That," he answered, "Is for the Magistrate to decide."

Somnus was still growling quietly. It was quiet enough that most people wouldn't be able to hear him, but he still growled. He didn't want to antagonize their captors, but that didn't mean he had to be happy. He went quiet once again, and simply stared at them all.

When Praecus said his plans, Ketryn felt like reaching through the bars and punching him in the face. If it weren't for her logical side of thinking and the force field, she probably would have. She looked at Thray again. If she could show any emotion right now, it would be a mixture of fear and anger and shock. But then he offered Praecus a deal- to let everyone else go. But Praecus could do with him what he wanted.

"....No..." Ketryn silently said. It was Thray trying to let everyone survive except him that got her to feel sympathy for him. he had killed so many, though. But then... she would feel guilty knowing how she was saved from death- someone else had died. That's just like it was for her current form- thousands died before her in experiments before she got this body. What if it were just like that?

"Please- just think his execution over." Ketryn looked at Praecus blankly. "Just please."

"YOU KNOW WHAT SHUT UP!" Donfroste roared at the frilled alien "not only are you cruel jailers but your guilty if wasting my time are you serious? execute us? Hey I'm so glad yo deciding this now instead of I don't know EARLIER WHEN WE CRASHED DOWN"! I can't believe you wasted all this time and energy bringing us here just to end up Killing us!" That has got to be the stupidest plan EVER!" Why the heck didn't I stay on the cargoship

Ketryn felt her nerves grow as she heard Praecus' words. Taken to one of these cells for further examination. Examination... Ketryn moved away from the cell entrance as the guards stepped in. examination... she had heard THAT before. Examination is what the scientists had called it.... experimentation is what it really was. She hesitated, taking another step back.

If she didn't go, she could be killed. And Thray was already doing so much to keep them alive. Ketryn looked back at Thray, and nodded at him.

"Thank you," she said quietly before letting a guard escort her out.

Somnus barely reacted when one of the guards untied him. He stayed unblinking, unafraid, and allowed them to lead him to a cell. They were over half his height, but they had better weaponry. He knew better than to try anything. Besides, he wouldn't want to harm them. They were acting purely in self defense, and he was glad they hadn't outright blown up Thray's ship.

Vetrys watched as the prisoners were led out of their cells by the rest of the guards. He didn't say anything, but he kept a sharp eye on all of them. He crossed his lower pair of arms, taking a moment to glare at the smallest prisoner. He was trouble, Vetrys knew, but he wouldn't be too difficult to stop if he did escape. He watched carefully, already sizing up each prisoner. Most of them seemed ready to cooperate, if not particularly happy. But he knew from experience that just because they act friendly, it doesn't mean they'll stay that way.

Strange kept silent as his captors walked his fellow prisoners through the halls.

Prisoners.

He silently scoffed.

Held in cells.

Strange rolled his eyes, seemingly unimpressed, but on the inside a little bit enraged. Those... Idiots, he thought. ...I guess I understand their... distrustful attitude... Of course, I'm searching for something clever to tell them. I'm pretty sure I'm in the right, but there's no way that they'll believe me as long as... In fact, never. They'll never believe me.

If Strange had a true mouth, he's be biting his cheeks so hard that they'd be bleeding. He decided, with so much disappointment that it was almost audible to the people outside of his mind, that he had to go with the flow and do what they told him to. It wasn't wise to become a bigger enemy then he already seemed to be.

As Senn was taken away, he gave an eerie sneer to Thray and Kydi. His ears bent down angrily at them. Then as he was taken away he calmed himself. He was actually a bit tired if being angry and needed to experience a different emotion. He calmed himself to the point of sleepiness and simply awaited. He wanted those Kyrenians dead. He'd kill them himself if he had to. But their survival and continued existence was unacceptable.

Any other time Donfroste would have attempted to gut the guards, but he was tired and in pain he decided to do his magnificent escape later when he was better the guards have a confused look when he strolled out completely untied but he didn't care and why would he? What would they do tie him up for escaping his restraints? As he walked away he called back to Thray and Kydi ". Hey it hanks for rescuing me". Then he held his head high as they led him out to show that he was not intimidated by these frilled creatures.

Ketryn looked around the cells blankly, though she was pretty sure if she ate food and had a stomach she would be vomiting it up right now from nervousness. She looked at one of the guards, her voice blank though it would normally be wavering right about now. "Is there an outlet anywhere or any form of energy I could plug up to? I need for my systems to charge up a little bit more- before we were attacked I was still charging."

Vetrys took his place at the front, where he could see all the prisoners.  He barely looked around, as he already knew every inch of the place by memory.  The cells were labeled by number and side of the hall, starting with the first cell after the low-security section, which had a different set of numbers.  This meant that the first cell on the right was labeled HR1, High-Right 1.

He wasted no time in assigning the prisoners to cells.  Not knowing many of their names, he pointed to each one and called out a cell number.  The guards complied immediately.  Nyx and Somnus were led to HR1.  Somnus didn't seem pleased, but neither did anyone else, and he didn't fight.  Senn and Strange were put together in HL1.  Vetrys saw no fault in this plan whatsoever.  That left HR2 for Ketryn and Donfroste.  And Kydi would be on his own in HL2.  No one wanted the Invader to have any more access to resources than he had to.  For all they knew, he would kill the other prisoners anyway.

Vetrys watched calmly to make sure everyone went to their cells without trouble.  This was far from a normal day down here, but he was going to treat it like one.  Without taking his eyes off the prisoners, he took a small radio from a pocket in his vest.  He checked to make sure it was at the right frequency, and then spoke.  "Wratchet, we need you in the high-security prison.  Bring a charger."  That said, he waited for a reply.

Ketryn sighed. These guards weren't going to offer her any extra charge for he systems. She examined the shield that was between the bars on the cells curiously before touching it. Its charge made her hand twitch and she quickly pulled her hand away. That wasn't going to work. However... It was a shield. Maybe she could use her own energy to short its circuitry somehow so that all that would be e tween her and freedom is metal bars. Surely one of the other prisoners could break bars. Maybe not. Also in order to give up some energy from her systems she would have to damage some of her equipment- maybe break off a finger to reveal wire. Even then she might not have enough energy to give. She looke around the cell quietly before walking to the edge of the cell, looking at the other prisoners.

Forget it. Even if she did escape, she would be surrounded by guards. She wouldn't be able to fight them all. Ketryn let out a flat sigh and just remained standing, thinking of different things hat might help. She wasn't goig to be experimented on.

(I have an hour of wi fi since my dad took me to the local college. I'm gonna get in a quick post)

Ketryn heard footsteps and... Humming. She straightened her back, not sure what to expect. An then she could see the faint outline of whoever it was- short, but a Jakulo. And then the life form came into view. Ketryn could tell she was young, but Ketryn wasn't sure exactly how old she was. It turned out she had brought a charger.

Ketryn bent down to examine it before quickly taking the wire from her wrist and plugging it into the box. She sighed, feeling her systems begin to charge.

"Thank you," Ketryn nodded at the female Jakulo. She seemed a lot nicer than the others.

Strange was stuck in a cell with Senn. Trying not to make eye contact, he sat in the corner and wondered what his next move would be.

To wait, of course, why think otherwise? What else could he do, fight his way out? Strange shook his head vigorously at the thought, obviously troubled by this.

I wish I could fight like a normal Ayataan.

Strange gave Senn a quick glare, obviously unhappy with this arrangement. He heard sounds from an adjacent cell: a Jakulo talking to another prisoner; he assumed from the voice that it was Ketryn. Good for her, he thought.

This led to another question: what were the Jakulo planning to do with them? If they were going to be executed, then there would be no reason for them to give Ketryn a charger. This lifted Strange's hopes slightly. If fact, if they were to spend life in prison, then would there be a reason to give Ketryn her charger? This could be good news. If Strange had a mouth, he'd have the ghost of a grin.

Donfroste had went to the nearest corner laid down and attempted to sleep but he couldn't he wasn't comfortable,he wasn't happy but most importantly he wasn't safe he was in a dark metal cage and at any given moment he could be killed. The most he could do was a light rest. He cracked opened his eyes to see a smaller version of the species that imprisoned him he glared at her getting shot,tied,burned and ignored didn't really improve his opinion of this species he saw his cellmate apparently she was robotic because she seemed to be recharging herself. how curious

Ketryn was about to say that the Jakulo- Wratchet- could go ahead and draw her, but paused. This one Jakulo seemed willing enough to maybe help in providing information....

"I will let you draw me if you first tell me what they are planning on doing to us," Ketryn found herself demanding. She could try and move the cot at the back of the room and somehow make it to where Wratchet wouldn't be able to draw her or.... something. Right? So she might as well take advantage of the situation.

Vetrys stepped up beside Wratchet before she could speak. "She wouldn't know anything about that," he said quickly, throwing a quick glance at her. "You will be kept here until we know if you will endanger our homes. After that, it is up to the Magistrate." He paused, then added, "and Levith."

Somnus had yet to take his eyes off Vetrys. He narrowed his eyes slightly when their captor spoke. So they were just here until they could prove it was safe to let them out? Something seemed off about that. If they were only doing this to protect people, then wouldn't they want to seem more... Friendly? Levith, at least, had seemed openly hostile to them. Of course, they had arrived with Invaders. He wasn't sure of anything, except that there was much more to this than it seemed.
