In the words of many an old travelling bards, many moons ago, the Great Spirit created a beautiful land which he called Long. Long was a beautiful land, more powerful and precious than any other world ever to be created by the Great Spirit. He blessed it with emerald green trees with sun-kissed blooms of a million different colors, and made it's climate as diverse as imaginable. From the crests of the waves of the sparkling azure sea to the sloping majesty of the mountains in the West to the lush golden valleys cleaved by rivers of the purest blue, Long was a paradise. And in this paradise, The Great Spirit blew the breath of life into a breed of majestic and powerful creatures which he called Yong, or dragons. He filled his world with many dragons, as well as a host of other nations; there were the Maoren, or werecats, who lived nestled in the foothills of the purple mountains, the Xiniuren (were-rhinoes, if those exist) of the white northern deserts, and the She-de (snake people) of the southern bamboo forests. But none of the other creatures that the Great Spirit made could possibly surpass the grace and might of the dragons, and he clearly showed his favoritism by disseminating his draconic children to every speck of his land.

But, over time, the other creatures became severely outnumbered by their fire-breathing neighbors. The Maoren, Xiniuren, and She-de allied together against the dragons, and swept to war. The war lasted many centuries, and many lives were lost on both sides of the conflict. Near the end of the war, the Xiniuren, being great engineers in the days of old, created a great machine with the power to destroy life, and attempted to use it on the dragons. However, with the help of the Great Spirit, a dragon warrior known as Wan defeated the Xiniuren and deactivated their machine. Wan dedicated his life from that moment on to protecting the machine from ever being turned on again. The cave collapsed in on itself, and both Wan and the Machine were lost forever.

However, nobody ever though of what would happen if the machine were to ever turn on...

The day the Earth shook again was a crisp autumn day showered in the loving caress of a golden sunshine. It was a peaceful day, and everything seemed to be in a warm, balmy sleep. Not even a single insect could be heard chirping on this day, nor the roar of a hunting dragon, as this was Di-qi-tian, the Dragon people's day of rest where they worshipped the Great Spirit in thanksgiving for his beautiful creations. No hunting would take place today, not would any hoarding dragons collect their gold. Out of nowhere, a deep roaring noise pierced the crust of the Earth, and everything began to shake, like it had many millennia ago. Trees fell, entire Maoren villages were destroyed, and the walls of the mighty Xniuren city in the north were cleaved in two by the terrible quaking. All of the beings of Long were thrown into chaos, no matter how much the Tyrant Dragon Huangdi tried to stop them. And everything got worse when the sky went dark. A solar eclipse struck the land with fear as the sun's loving golden caress turned dark and hostile.

Deep underground, under the Xiniuren stronghold, an ancient, rust-covered machine sputtered, then whirred to life. It's magma-pumping generator lit up red hot, and used its reserve battery to pump magma into the machine's heatproof metal turbine, which power the entire machine. It's rectangular primary body lit of white in several places, to illuminate the eerie, pure white skeleton of a Chinese dragon wrapped around the machine's body. A central, sphere-shaped section of the machine lit up white and began to move around its earthen prison like an artificial eye. It moved around the room, scanning over every last detail with it's all-seeing eyes, and then saw the dragon skeleton wrapper around it.

So, they still live? the machine darkly thought to itself Then I must destroy them!

---

Ok, so in a nutshell, this RP is about dragons. These dragons live in the land of Long, where since the ancient wars, they have lived in relative peace with the other beings. However, now this ancient machine, forgotten about for millennia, has been activated by an earthquake, and is now going to attempt to destroy all life in Long, especially the dragons. it will try many things to destroy it's adversaries, from mind control to destroying nature to energy waves strong enough to demolish entire cities. Your task, as a dragon, is to find the source of these energy waves (they haven't yet started by the way), and stop them before the population of Long turns against itself and a second great war begins.

Rules:

1) No trolling, god-modding, metagaming, flaming, bashing of ideas, or anything else
2) this is a literate rp. Every post must be a full paragraph at least.
3) all characters must be original; do not steal character ideas from other roleplays, video games, or movies unless you created that character yourself.
4) if you read these rules, put "Time" in the other section of your sheet
5) Please try to stick to dragons for this roleplay. You may only be a Maoren or a She-de if you ask me whether you can or not first.
6) the Xiniuren are a seclusive and xenophobic race that fears all of the other races. You may not roleplay as them, though they will play an important part of the story.
7) this roleplay has many Chinese influences, but you may be whatever type of dragon that you wish.
8 ) of course, magic is allowed, but no invincibility and no teleporting. These two grate on my last nerve.
9) no killing without permission.
10) no sex whatsoever. Your dragons can make eggs elsewhere.
11) you may be explicit with your words and descriptions (blood and gore), but keep it pg-13.

the sheet:

name:

gender:

age: (dragons live an average of 500 years)

species: (if your dragon is a species that you made up, put other here)

length: (nose to tip of tail)

weight:

wingspan: (optional)

appearance: (pictures will work, though you need to list your dragon's height and weight)

personality: (optional)

abilities: (does your dragon have any special abilities? Breathing fire goes here too, as not all dragons can do that. The speed of a dragon must not break 500mph, though this shouldn't be a problem, as 500mph is blindingly fast. Dragon fire may not excede 3000 degrees Fahrenheit

:Accepted Characters:

Name: Huangdi

gender: male

age: 400

Region: Southern Forest

species: Tyrant Dragon

length: 70 feet (is usually coiled up)

weight: 2 tons

wingspan: NA (he flies magically)

appearance: Imagine Dragons OOC/planning stage. We want your feedback! Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRauX23ysNIcoy1s2p12VTAm_nC28g2CUXRCgQslWuqBpFAVmt4

abilities: Huangdi is the Tyrant Dragon, the leader of the Dragon people. He is an immensely powerful being, having come from the line of Wan. He is incredibly strong, being able to crush boulders with a swing of his tail, and can fly at 450 miles per hour, faster than most dragons. He breathes a rainbow-colored flame that burns at 4000 degrees, hot enough to scorch anything to a crisp with a bit of AOE. His flames have healing properties as well, and he can produce a pure silver flame that can heal most wounds and is warm to the touch, though he himself is immune to this. His scales are tough and resistant to damage, and is completely 100 percent fireproof. His razor sharp teeth can cleave through any armor and are slightly venemous, causing pain to all who fall to his legendary bite.

name: Sunspot

gender: female

age: 150

region: Northern Desert

length: 20 feet (30 if you count her tail)

weight: 1 ton

species: Sun dragon (bearded dragon)

appearance: Sunspot closely resembles a giant bearded dragon. Her skin is comprised of hundreds of different shades of yellow which help her to blend in with the desert sands. Sunspot's scales are thin, but are also pliable and numerous to add flexibility. Her body is wide and plump, though muscular, as are her skinny legs which she runs on. Each of her legs are ended in a set of long, dangerous claws that are slightly pliable to give her lift when she runs. Her back legs are slightly longer than her front legs and are thicker to help her jump. Most of her length is taken up by her long, thick tail that is spindly and hard at the end for whipping purposes. Her head is wide and arrow-shaped, and is designed so that any dew will flow down her face and into her mouth for her to drink. Under her head she has a pocket of frilly scales that puff up when she's angry or breathing fire. Her teeth are rounded but sharp, as she eats insects (there are some really big cricket in the desert), though she can eat meat if she needs to.

personality: Sunspot is a hyper individual. She loves to run around and play, and is almost like a really big kid. She loves running with a passion, and its the only thing that she can focus on at one time. She sees herself as an athlete and takes her fine craft very seriously. She is very adventurous as well, and loves a good story or exploring other regions. She knows a lot about all of the region, especially where to find the tastiest prey. She loves the heat, but hates the cold, which drives her away from parts of the Western Mountains.

abilities: Firstly, I should say that Sunspot is flightless. He has no wings, and no way to fly whatsoever. What Sunspot lacks in flying she makes up with her blinding speed on land. She can run at nearly 150 miles per hour, faster than 90 percent of cars. Her back legs are incredibly strong as well, allowing her to jump nearly thirty feet in the air like a frog, which helps her catch insects. She is adept at burrowing as well, and can dig at nearly 30 miles an hour, fast enough to dig a half mile every minute. Sunspot's fire is a blisteringly hot 2000 degrees and is compacted into single fireballs that can travel incredible distances and explode upon contact. Her thick tail has an almost whiplike end to it and can be coiled up around her like an iguana's and thrown violently to severely damage non-armored creatures.

other: time

Vipera:

Name: Nivosus
Gender: Female
Age: 457
region: Western Mountains
length: 64 feet
weight: 18 tons
Species: Frost Dragon/ Highland Dragon Hybrid

Appearance: Nivosus, being an incredibly elderly dragon, has definitely seen better days, judging by her appearance. She is incredibly large, being 64 feet long, but almost two thirds of her length consist of her tail and neck, and only a small portion of her size is actually her torso. Her skull is large enough to be the same size as most humanoid children. She has a massive wingspan of 84 feet long, making her capable of incredible maneuvers in flight that would be too difficult for other dragons her size to pull off. She lacks front legs, and therefore crawls on the clawed tips of her wings. She weighs around 18 tons. Nivosus’ coloration is mostly bronze and tan, but in a few patches, along with right around the base of her skull, and on the edges of her wings and tail, they change to a mix of white and grey-blue. A few of her scales have also turned grey from age. The plates running down her belly are white. Nivosus has a total of twelve thick ivory horns, a few of which are chipped or broken, and when combined with her white scales, makes her appear to have a kind of beard, which often misleads humanoids into believing she is male. Long, sharp spines run down her back, and depending on the color of the scales in the patch, they are either white or blue-gray, the bronze patches being ivory, and white patches having blue-gray spines. Several of her spines are also chipped. Nivosus’ wings are bat-like in shape, but have five fingers that support the membranes, and three sharp talons on the tips of the wings that she uses to walk. The edges of Nivosus’ wings along her arms, and the last wing finger she possesses have a single, razor-sharp bone that runs the entire length, making an attack from Nivosus’ wing incredibly dangerous. The wings are mostly bronze colored, but the edges of the membranes are white, and the wings are also incredibly tattered, due to age. The membrane naturally connects at the hips, and barely trails down her tail. Nivosus’ tail is thick, with a large spade-shaped barb at the end. This barb has sharpened and serrated edges on it, and it has the capability to cut things, but is hard enough to be swung like a club. Nivosus has on her feet three front talons, and one back talon, which allows her to grip things in a fashion similar to a bird. Her teeth are long and sharp like daggers, and the inside of her mouth is black, with a blue forked tongue. Nivosus has electric blue eyes that are flecked with paler shades of blue and green, with elliptical pupils. In the dark, her eyes shine like stars, making them her most prominent and beautiful feature.

Personality: Nivosus is a rather secretive dragon, keeping well away from interaction with humanoids, which is easier said than done, due to her home being in the peak of a mountain that is located directly above a Maoren town, which in appearance is a stronghold, with high stone walls and towers, and sentries posted at all entrances. While Nivosus has never shown hostility, many of the people living there have a constant fear that she may one day attack them, even after nine generations. However, despite avoiding contact with them, Nivosus has carefully observed the town. Recently, she has noticed that some of their fear has given way to curiosity, as now, when she leaves her cave, a select few Maoren gather just outside the walls to observe. She has come to believe that more humanoids have accepted that dragons are not just mindless beasts, but Yong, sapient creatures with their own spoken and written language, and the capability to learn others. She also believes that the other reason for their curiosity is her great age, and the fact that in their local area, she is the oldest being present. Her age has imparted to her an incredible amount of wisdom, as well as intelligence. She is aware of many different things that most creatures do not know, and takes great pride in her knowledge, although she is aware that it is wrong to act superior. When observing the Maoren in their town, she will sometimes find humor in their actions, mainly because they are so young, almost like children. She also sometimes laughs at their sentries, because she does not think that if she attacked them, they would stand a chance, even in armor. Although some of her horns and spines are broken, Nivosus has only become stronger and more formidable in size and in combat. Her power is also a great source of pride. Despite common belief, Nivosus also no longer actively hoards treasure, although she does have a large amount from when she was younger. As she grew older, she became aware that the larger her hoard grew, the more likely others would try to steal from her. For hundreds of years, Nivosus has only ever observed humans, however, ever since the earthquake on the day of Di-qi-tian, she has become more aggressive, due to the fear that the Maoren will blame her for their troubles, and will now show hostility towards any Maoren that dare get too close to her or her lair, although she does not actively wish to kill anyone.

Abilities: Nivosus is a Frost and Highland dragon mix. Although Highland dragons breathe fire, Nivosus appears to have standard Frost dragon abilities. She can breathe a cold white breath that can freeze things to a total of -50 degrees Fahrenheit, which can instantly turn water into ice, and cause third or fourth-degree frostbite, making her ice breath no less dangerous than a dragon’s fire breath. Nivosus is also capable of flying at a total of 100 miles per hour, which makes her faster than any land animal on the planet, although plenty of dragons can easily match or surpass her speed. Her speed is still very surprising, due to her massive size and weight. People are also often impressed by her maneuverability, as she is capable of making fast turns in the air, and even flying in loops or upside down. When crawling on the ground, she does not appear to be hindered by her wings. In combat, Nivosus has many other abilities aside from her frost breath. Her powerful teeth and claws can cause incredible injury, and her horns allow her to charge her enemies and smash through obstacles. Her muscular tail is tipped with a spade-like barb, which is incredibly hard, with razor-sharp edges. This large barb can act like a bludgeon, used to smash things, or like a sword, due to its blade-like properties. Even in flight, Nivosus has more weapons than just ice breath. The edges of her wings are sharp like razors, and can be used as weapons. Her spines make it difficult for creatures to leap onto her back without consent or injury, and act as a kind of defense. Nivosus’ final abilities linked to combat are her powerful eyes, which allow her to see in the dark. She is also able to speak the language of the Maoren with the fluency of a native, along with the traditional language of the dragons.

Name: Tenebris
Gender: Male
Age: 100
Species: Shade Lurker Dragon (Self-Declared Species)
Length: 4’0” (Tail makes up roughly 2’0”)
Weight: 8lbs.
Wingspan: 12’0”

Appearance: Tenebris is a very unique dragon in appearance, but due to his small size, seems far less threatening than he really is. He resembles most western dragon breeds, possessing four legs, wings, and a distinct body, unlike the more serpentine eastern breeds. Tenebris has a very lean build, much like a greyhound, with long, powerful legs, a deep chest, and a flexible spine, which allow him to move very quickly when running. His feet are like raccoon paws, and are incredibly dexterous, along with a sixth digit that functions like an opposable thumb. His claws are also far sharper than a normal raccoon’s, and much stronger, capable of leaving deep, painful cuts. Despite the shape of his legs, Tenebris is capable of standing on his hind legs for short periods, freeing up his front claws. His tail is long and thin, making up half of his entire body length, and on the tip, he possesses a long barb that does not appear to have any qualities like that of a bone or sharpened scale, but more the characteristics of a razor-sharp, double-edged blade. This barb is incredibly hard, and is useful for many different things. Tenebris’ entire body is covered in sleek armored plates, like that of a giant plated lizard, and past his long, arching neck, his face is much like that of a Bengal monitor lizard. At the base of his skull he has two horns shaped similarly to that of a Nyala Antelope. The inside of his mouth is white, and so is his tongue. He has small, needle-like teeth. Raised triangular scales on his back form a single row of spines on his back. Tenebris’ wings are very large, being three times his length, and when fully opened, appear to be sail or tent-like in shape, the arm joint being completely straight, and the size of the wings dwarfing the rest of his body, making him seem far larger. Tenebris’ main coloration is pure black, but despite the sleek texture of his scales, light does not seem to reflect harshly off of him, like it should, and instead, seems to dissipate through his scales like mist, making his scales seem far duller in appearance, and more like smooth leathery skin. His horns and blade-like tail also have similar characteristics, being incredibly sleek and sharp, but reflecting the light as though it were dissipating into mist. This often can be dangerous, as this makes his tail and horns look far duller than they truly are, which leads enemies to believe they are not capable of causing injury. Tenebris also has raccoon-like markings on his face, but in reverse colors, the markings around his eyes being pale grey, contrasting with his black scales, and being ringed by white. Despite this change in colors, the odd lighting effect does not leave Tenebris’ scales. Tenebris’ eyes are by far the most unique quality of his appearance. His eyes are an almost-black shade of blue, filled with points of white that look like stars. Near the edge of his elliptical pupils, the blue brightens, making it look as though his eyes were rifts in the night sky. His eyes appear to give off a faint aventurescence luster or glow, and therefore also seem to glitter constantly. Many people are mesmerized by this. His most unusual factor about his appearance, however, is Tenebris’ shadow; he does not cast one at all, and this often disorients people to some degree, or at least confuses them, because it is difficult to tell how he is affected by light. This often leads those who see him to believe his is the concentrated substance of shadows and mist himself.

Personality: Tenebris is easily among one of the most mischievous dragons that one could encounter. Due to his small size and skill set, he is able to sneak into the towns and strongholds of humanoids quite easily, without ever being seen or even arousing suspicion. His incredible skill in sneaking has become a sort of profession, and once inside a settlement, he is known to toy with various people that he selects. Those around him will discover eggs or chickens missing from the coop, or sometimes shapes will dart around the edge of their vision, but never directly in front. On a few occasions, shadows seem to be in places where there should not be one. Those in charge of prisons or treasure chests may also find that locks have been picked, the object of containment set free, or stolen, with no sign of the thief. Even the most heavily-guarded castle may be entered as easily as a child’s play-pen. Tenebris is also a very talented swordsman, but not because he wields a sword. Instead, he is incredibly skilled in using his barbed tail as a kind of katana, easily besting the strongest warriors. Tenebris is multilingual, and also knows how to read and write multiple languages. He is very secretive, however, and has so far never contacted a humanoid directly.

Abilities: Tenebris, despite his incredibly small size, has a far more unique skill set than one might think. Unlike most dragons, Tenebris does not produce traditional fire or ice as a breath. Instead, he has the capability to shoot small fist-sized balls of bluish-violet plasma, which creates a flash of light, and usually a small fire, wherever they strike. This makes his fire less likely to hit moving targets, but causes a solid impact. The resulting flames burn at a temperature of 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, about the temperature of a candle, but while in the shape of a ball, causes an almost physical impact. Tenebris’ most unique abilities, however, are those he has that are linked to shadows. He does not cast a shadow, making him talented at hiding in even the most obvious of places. He can also fade from view to the point that he is nearly invisible, but a faint dark shape still remains, drifting like mist. Tenebris can also fuse into a shadow on the ground, and hide in the shadows cast by objects or things. Light does not appear to cause any injury to him, although bright light makes it more difficult to hide. When flying, Tenebris is blindingly fast, flying up to 500 miles per hour, due to his lighter weight, large wings, and aerodynamic shape. It is also believed, but not proven, that he may also move fast due to his shadow abilities. When running on the ground, he can go up to 25 miles per hour, reaching this speed incredibly fast from a rest position, making catching him, even in enclosed areas, a difficult task. Tenebris has good night vision, also, which makes him much better at his self-proclaimed profession of thievery. His incredibly hard, sharp claws, combined with dexterous hands with opposable thumbs, make him good at picking locks, and also double as close-combat weapons. His sharp teeth are also useful for fighting, and he can jab attackers with his horns, if need be. His most powerful close-combat weapon, however, is the long, double-edged barb on his tail, which so far appears to be unbreakable, and never needs to be sharpened. This barb’s sharpness rivals that of a katana blade, and due to the tail being prehensile, is very accurate as well. Tenebris’ skills in wielding this barb easily surpass that of a master swordsman.

Name: Sahloknir (Sal-oh-kin-ere) (Means Phantom-Sky-Hunt in ancient language)

Gender: Male

Age: 253

Species: Zilant

Length: About 65 feet in length.

Weight: Five tons

Wingspan: 106ft

Appearance: The Zilant is a rather mysterious dragon of the night. Reaching the length of t60+, these strange dragons are relatively large. Their body seems to be in the form of a smoke-cloud-like substance, making it rather difficult to see at night, IF one isn't looking for it. However, if one is searching for a Zilant, you must look through the sky in search of the many holes that glow yellow that line it's body. Under it's wings, on it's sides, it's mouth even. The creature itself seems to have no viewable anatomy, such as eyes or nostrils. In their place are yellow glowing holes. They have a single horn over each eyebrow. It is completely unknown how this dragon works, and why it glows yellow, or why it looks like it's a living smoke form. They have no forelimbs, but their back legs are very strong and very well developed, allowing them to stand on only them if given the need to. These legs boast large talons that

Personality: Eh, not to sure how to make this one. I'll improvise as I go along.

Abilities: Zilants are an extremely fast dragon species boasting aerodynamic bodies, light weight builds, and a massive wingspan, and can achieve high speed of up to 450mph in the air. Despite visibly unarmed in the jaw area, these creatures seem to have a devastating bite. It is unsure if it's jaws are like scissors, or if it has teeth (It's jaws are actually similar to the prehistoric fish, Dunkleosteus). It's long and powerful legs are tipped with three large talons, similar to a bird of prey's. It's ranged attack is smoke, it breaths smoke, methane, propane, and other flammable gases in one cloud as it's ranged attack, making it poisonous to breath, hard to see, and highly combustable. However, the problem is, a Zilant can't light it itself.

Other: The inside of this dragon burns as hot as the sun, disintegrating food as it enters, giving these dragon high speed metabolisms. Their wings are said to be so strong and vast that they never touch the ground in their lifetimes. However, one eye witness account shows that if injured and given time to heal, that the dragon is very capable of a vertical take off. Zilant's breath hydrogen, not oxygen. It feeds their internal fire and keeps them from starving to death trying to feed their fire. Sahloknir has lived in the mountains his whole life.

Time.

:The Five Regions:

There are five main regions of Long. This is a description of each and the kinds of wildlife in each. Any dragon can live in any region, except for sea dragons which must live in the Eastern Sea, however be realistic; frost dragons wouldn't do well in the desert. If anyone has any ideas for other mythical creatures or animals to add, just post them OOC and I'll add them. Note that all other sentients of Long that live in the region are in the animals section even though they are intelligent.

(Vipera, you may re-organize/add things as you wish since you're the animal guru)

Region one: the Eastern Sea

The Eastern Sea is a vast region that goes on seemingly forever until they hit the Border Mountains at the end of the region. The Eastern Sea is full of all sorts of different fish, and is dotted with islands on which many species of fish-eating dragons come from. Many parts of the sea are prone to typhoons, and flying across it at times is extremely dangerous. The islands are prone to earthquakes as well as volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis are common. The islands are also known for their high heat matched only by the North Desert, and have many volcanic hot springs.

types on animals:
-fish in general
-Spider Crabs
-sea serpents
-sirens (tribal snake people who sing very well)
-seabirds (including albatrosses, birds of paradise, storks, and gulls)
-tropical lizards (anoles, iguanas, geckoes, Chameleons)
-Giant hermit crabs the size of tortoises
-Massive tortoises the size of SUVs
-ospreys
-lobsters
-elephant seals
-Walruses
-tropical monkeys
-Capricorns (goats with fish tails)
-Hippocampi (literally sea horses)

Region Two: The Central Plains

The Central Plains are the largest region of Long. It is primarily flat and is bordered by the Northern Ocean, the Eastern Sea, the Southern Forest, and the Western Mountains. The Central Plains are covered with long grass and separated fast-running rivers. The Maoren live in Harrappan-style cities made of stone and clay. The cities are placed at river intersections and are very mathematically precise. All of their cities are perfectly circular, and the streets all intersect at 90 degree angles. The plains are also covered in Maoren farms which raise all kinds of vegetables. Some very dangerous predators live in deserted parts of the Central Plains, including the Manticore and the chimera as well as the Aslanian (winged lions).

types of animals:
-cows
-wild pigs
-chickens and roosters
-sheep
-Chinese fanged deer
-Maoren
-wild dogs
-field sparrows
-freshwater fish
-chimeras
-horses
-Chimeras
-Manticores
-Aslanians
-unicorns
-Hellbenders (a species of giant salamanders that live in Central Plains rivers)
-waterfowl (in the rivers)
-river turtles (in the rivers)

Region Three: the Western Mountains

The Western Mountains resemble Tibet in many ways. They are a massive chain of mountains that continue on seemingly forever. The terrain is extremely harsh, cold, and rugged, making it a place where only the most powerful of beasts can survive. It is home to a tribe of Xiniuren known as the Separatists, who, unlike their vitriolic, xenophobic cousins, are very religious and peaceful and welcoming. Little plant life grows in the Western mountains besides conifers, so most animals are predators.

Types of animals:
-Yetis (they resemble giant upright white gorillas)
-bighorn sheep
-Maoren (in a few camps)
-Lynxes
-snow leopards
-wolverines!
-Xiniuren separatists
-two-bears (massive two-headed polar bears)
-wolves
-arctic foxes
-arctic hares
-voles (Norwegian manly mice)
-badgers
-snowy owls
-ents (living conifer trees)
-cyclopses

Region Four: The Northern Desert

The Northern Desert is most likely the harshest and second largest climate in Long. It consists of a massive desert of pure white sand that can reach blistering heats of 150 degrees at noon and as cold as 30 degrees at night. because of this, the animals, plants, and dragons that live here are tough and resilient to temperature swings. This region is also home to the baddest predators, like Sphinxes and Basilisks. The Northern Desert contains the Xiniuren Stronghold, the largest and second to only population of Xiniuren in existence.

Types of animals:
-Xiniuren
-Basilisks (in this rp resembles a velociraptor covered in feathers with wings)
-Sphinxes
-desert owls
-cactus ents (an ent but with a cactus)
-Xiniuren
-roadrunners
-coyotes
-wyrms (gigantic worms. A dragon form of this is a serpent)
-gigantic tarantulas
-Nemian Lions
-camels
-desert sheep
-Maoren (very low population of Maoren nomads)
-Giant crickets
-cockatrices (in this rp resembles a chicken with a longer neck, teeth, and scales)
-thorny devils
-monitors
-Viperaunion (vipers)
-Pit scorpions (really freaking big scorpions)
-Myremeks (giant ants)

Region Five: the Southern Forest

The Southern forest is a large bamboo forest to the South of the region. All of the rivers of the Central Plains start here, so it is like the life force of Long. It is a beautiful region, littered with all sorts of plant and animal life in addition to the ever-present forests of bamboo. Graceful waterfalls and rock formations dot the landscape, and the forest has an overall peaceful feel to it. The most dragons live on the low, sparsely-placed mountains in the Southern Forest. The area's main non-dragon sentient is the She-de, or snake people, who are currently allied with the dragons. She-de cities are much like Chinese villages, with Ming dynasty architecture.

Types of animals:
-She-de
-panda bears
-Red pandas
-ants
-Quilins (giraffes with purple spots)
-Komodo dragons
-firesnails (snails the sixe of housecats with dragon heads that spit fire)
-fruit bats
-foxes
-raccoons
-sun bears
-pegasi
-turkeys
-quails
-anteaters
-hippogryiffs
-phoenixes
-tigers
-gibbons (a type of monkey)
-cranes
-giant praying mantises (relatively harmless)
-Herculean Beetles (gigantic beetles the size of rhinos)
-peacocks
-Bosami Turtles (very wise creatures. The only animals with the ability to speak besides the maoren, Xiniuren, or She-de)

:The Dragipedia:

This is a list of different species of dragons that any writer can use. If anyone wishes to add a species to the list, please pm me with your article.

STILL IN PROGRESS

Ace Dragons: Ace dragons are masters of the sky. They are small dragons, growing to about the size of an adult human, and normally come in plain white or grey, with a very small population of red Ace Dragons, known as Red Barons. Ace Dragons are built for speed, possessing hollow bird-like bones and streamlined bodies built like jet planes, possessing long necks and tails and arrow-shaped heads. They are one of the few dragons who can create white fire, which is blisteringly hot., and burns at about 5000 degrees Fahrenheit. Ace dragons fire this white flame in tiny, pellet-sized fireballs which they expel en masse like a machine gun 9think of the pokemon attack ember). They are solitary hunters, and catch prey by chasing down fast-moving birds or dragons to show off. The average Ace Dragon can easily clock 500 mph without being injured, and Red Barons have been known to break the sound barrier in races, though this severely damages them and accounts for nearly 50% of Red Baron deaths. They are very haughty dragons, and because of this live solitarily in the Western Mountains. Ace Dragons are normally hostile towards their own kind, and refer to each other by nicknames that have to do with their flying abilities (I will be making a Baron called Comet because his tail was once lit on fire in a dogfight). Red Barons are known to be the best fliers in the dragon world and are held prestigiously by others of their kind. When two big-headed Ace Dragons meet, they engage in WWII-style dogfights. The average Ace Dragon is about forty feet long with a forty foot wingspan and weighs about 500 pounds on average, as they are very skinny and have hollow bones.

Arson Dragons: Arson Dragons are one of the more dangerous breeds. They are the size of an SUV, approximately, and are built low to the ground and thick like an Ankylosaurus. Their backs are covered in magma, which is constantly on fire. Any vegetation that grows above Arson Dragons will burst into flame, making them extreme fire hazards. Because of this, they do not breathe fire, but are capable of drenching their enemies in hot lava. They are grazers that live in small packs, making them a greater fire hazard.

Shade Lurker Dragon: Shade Lurker Dragons have very little information about them, due to the simple fact that they are only a recently discovered breed, and only one is confirmed to exist so far. These tiny dragons are reclusive and mysterious, but appear to have kleptomaniac tendencies, often using their skills to steal gold and treasure from humanoids to add to their hoards, located in places unknown. Instead of breathing fire, they shoot bolts of plasma that cause tiny explosions, and when hit by one, it causes physical impact. Shade Lurkers are also armed with sharp dexterous claws and opposable thumbs, which make them very good at picking locks. Their prehensile tails are tipped with sharp double-edged bairbs that rival the cutting ability of a katana blade, and older Shade Lurkers can become even more skilled than a master swordsman using their tails. These dragons often weigh very little, but have wingspans that are three times their total length, and half their length is composed of their tails. Their bodies are also built for speed, having long legs, lean builds, and deep chests that allow room for a large heart and lungs. Shade Lurkers are arguably the fastest confirmed dragons in flight, and can run up to 25 miles per hour on the ground, reaching this speed quickly after starting from a rest position, making them very elusive and difficult to catch. However, the final ability with the species regards shadows. These dragons do not cast shadows, and often light seems to dissipate through their scales. They can fade until they area almost invisible, or enter shadows and dart through them. Their main coloration is pure black, with a silver mask over the eyes bordered by white. Their eyes are said to resemble cosmic events, like starry night skies.

Highland Dragons: Despite being quite common in mountainous regions, Highland Dragons are seldom seen, due to their quiet, peace-loving nature. Their tendency to lean towards a tranquil environment causes many of them to make homes far from humanoid settlements or the dwelling places of other dragons. Despite their gentle reputation, these dragons often in appearance come across as fierce and brutal. Capable of growing to massive size, with heavy, muscular builds, these dragons are physically very strong. Their hard skulls allow them to break through rock with ease, allowing easy navigation in tighter spaces, and their wings have razor-sharp edges that can slice through full-grown trees while in flight if enough speed is gained. Their tails are fitted with spade-shaped barbs that are incredibly large, and can be used as either a bludgeon, or a blade. While many of these abilities are useful for combat, they are mainly adaptations for surviving in the mountains. Their tails and skulls allow excavations of larger homes as the dragons grow, and their ability to slice through trees is useful in clearing an area around their cave for proper takeoff. Their only true ability that is built solely for combat is their power to breathe fire, which can scorch most things. Highland dragons are typically either bronze or tan in coloration, but the occasional gold or pink can be found. Their most striking features are their beautiful eyes, which have a mesmerizing quality.

Frost Dragons: Frost Dragons are a very secretive uncommon dragon breed that typically dwells in mountain ranges, but can occasionally be found in forests. Being large and covered with incredibly sharp spines, these dragons are dangerous to attack, due to their incredible defenses, and are known to be incredibly aggressive when provoked. Unlike most dragons that breathe fire, frost dragons instead breathe an icy vapor that can freeze most things solid, although the temperature often depends on the individual dragon. Frost dragons are commonly found in shades of white, blue, or dark bluish-grey.

Black Dragon: Black Dragons are alleged to be the deadliest and most fearsome dragons in existence. This is a lie. In real life, Black Dragons are a peaceful breed of scavengers that are said to be dangerous because of their fearsome appearance. Black Dragons closely resemble Allosauruses, with large batlike wings that replace their tiny hands. They have batlike claws which they use to grip onto surfaces Their tails are much longer than an allosaurus's and are tipped with a scorpion-like stinger which it uses to defend itself from its mortal enemy; the Corpse Dragon. They don golden, ram-like horns which they use to fight for mates. Once a Black dragon has mated, it is for life, and they are notorious for not cheating. Black dragons have very weak flames, though secrete a highly-flammable liquid from their fangs that allows them the uncanny ability to light their teeth on fire, which helps them to gnaw through the tough hide of dead dragons. They live in the Northern Desert, where they roost in large ground nests hidden in cactus forests. The average Black Dragon is small, being about seventeen feet long (though this is usually directed upwards, making them look shorter), and have a wingspan of fifteen feet.

Blood Dragon: Blood dragons are a very violent creatures, and are also called "blade dragons". They are silver-colored dragons that are normally splotched with crimson blood. Like sharks, their scales are rough to the touch and can cut enemies. Their wings are small, but sharp, and are sharp on the edges. They have long necks and rounded heads with sharp horns on it. Their teeth are razor sharp like knives, and are always dyed red. They are highly aggressive, and enjoy killing for sport. However, they do not breathe fire, which is why they are always covered in blood. They live in packs of three in the mountains, and rarely go to other regions. The average Blood Dragon is about twenty feet long with a thirty foot wingspan and weighs about 800 pounds.

Blue Dragon: Blue Dragons are a larger breed, and are also called "elephant dragons". They grow to about fifty feet in length, and they have thick bodies, making them much more massive. They are quadrupeds, and each of their thick legs ends in a massive foot with large black claws. Their tails make up a quarter of their length and end in a hard, bony club that they use to defend themselves. They are normally peaceful creatures, and only fight to defend themselves and hunt. They normally eat deer that grow in the Central Plains. Their wings are massive, but the dragons' massive bulk make them low and slow fliers. Their heads are wide and lined with large sharp teeth. Males are larger then females, and have long fu manchu-like facial hair which makes this breed unique. Blue Dragons do not breathe fire, but instead breathe noxious gas that knocks their prey unconscious. Blue dragons mate at exactly age 50, and keep their mates for life. A bachelor Blue Dragon lives about 300 years, while a married one has known to live at least 700, two hundred years longer than the average dragon lifespan. Blue dragons live in herds of around ten, and live together at all times. The oldest female is the leader of the pack, and is called the Matriarch. They roam across the prairies, where they hunt deer and other game.

Brine Dragon: Brine dragons are a peaceful breed of dragon that lives in the Eastern Sea. They are serpentine creatures, covered in pink scales thanks to the pigmentation in their one and only prey; brine shrimp. They closely resemble anacondas in design, except with circular tail fins and two pairs of pectoral fins which are wispy like a beta fish's. They live in dense schools of hundreds of Brine Dragons, and are very social creatures. The average Brine Dragon grows to be about forty feet long and weighs about two tons.

Corpse Wyvern: The Corpse Wyvern is also known as the Zombie Dragon and the Undead Dragon. It is one of the most fearsome and dangerous predators in the Northern Desert, thanks to its bite that can kill a two ton elephant in a minute flat. However, luckily for us, the Corpse Wyvern isn't aggressive. In fact, it has a very special way to attract food. The Corpse Dragon is about forty feet long with a wingspan of about thirty feet, however it cannot fly very well at all. The Corpse Wyvern's skin looks rotten and dead, and even smells like so, and it has a keratin exoskeleton that perfectly outlines it's bone structure. It has no arms, and it's legs are rather atrophied from laying on the desert floor all day, so it normally gets around by slithering and using it's feet as rudders. It has a long neck that leads to a small, arrow-shaped head, all of which are outlined perfectly with the exoskeleton. The Corpse Wyvern has a special ability that allows it to hold it's breath for several hours and can even stop its own pulse, so that when slightly covered in sand it resembles a dead dragon. This draws it's prey and nemesis, the Black Dragon, to it, and when the black dragon goes to take a bite, the Corpse Wyvern raises its head and strikes, letting the venom run through the Black Dragon, killing it.

Green Dragon: Green Dragons are peaceful forest-dwellers. They are flightless, and are about 30 feet long. The average Green Dragon weighs about 4 tons. Green Dragons are also known as scaleless dragons, as their scales are so incredibly tiny that they're very difficult to see, making the dragons appear to have smooth skin. They slightly resemble a reptillian sloth, having small, compact heads with large yellow eyes and claws on the end of their hands. Their tails are prehensile, and allow the dragons to swing between strong trees, though they often break the trees because of their weight and fall to the ground. Green Dragons are herbivores, and enjoy eating fruit and herbs. They do not breathe fire, but instead breathe a highly fragrant smoke, which clouds their enemies' judgement, allowing the Green Dragons to escape. They are timid creatures, though they are very strong, and often run from danger. Like bears, they nest in dens dug under strong trees, though they only rest there at night. Green Dragon Dens can be huge, and sprawl for nearly a mile underground. Green Dragons live in massive, extended families, where aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins, grandparents, in-laws, and all the rest live together.

Red Dragon: Red Dragons are your stereotypical European Dragon. They are an average of about 60 feet long and have a wingspan of about 70 feet, making them larger dragons. Their weight is normally around 2-5 tons. They are very European, having medium-length necks that end in large reptillian heads and long tails that end in a single black spike. hey have four legs, each ending in three-clawed toes. Males have a pair of horns that sprout from the backs of their skulls, though females are larger. Red dragons are very common, and live in all of the regions. They aren't picky eaters, and will eat anything that they can catch. Their fires aren't very strong, being only about 1,600 degrees, though they can breathe it for very long, causing massive damage over time. Red Dragons are very promiscuous, and are the most common hybrid parent, causing a range of different hybrids.

(am am aware that T doesn't come yet in the alphabet, but this is still a work in progress)
Tyrant Dragon: Tyrant Dragons are the rarest and most feared of the dragons. Only one may exist at a time, as a special magical spell kills any other hatchlings except for the strongest. They are descended directly from the line of Wan, the original tyrant, and are the militaristic, political, and religious leader of the Dragon Population. They travel across Long, solving problems and keeping the peace, and go to war when they have to. Because they are descended from the mighty Wan, Tyrant Dragons are nearly impossible to defeat alone. They are extremely intelligent, have scales that are fire proof and frost resistant, possess the strength of a dragon a thousand times their size, and breathes fire that can both destroy and heal, depending on the user's needs. They are long, serpentine dragons that possess two sets of legs and no wings, as they fly magically. At the end of their long necks is a head that resembled that of a lion with a long, almost crocodile-like snout, giving them the nickname "Lion Dragon". All Tyrant Dragons throughout the years have all had different colors. Tyrant Dragons are typically between fifty and a hundred feet long (Jia was nearly 130 at his time of death!), and weight anywhere between 1-4 tons (Yi-ban wasn't the lightest tyrant).

Okay, here's my sheet. I made a really old dragon.

Name: Nivosus
Gender: Female
Age: 457

She is also able to speak the language of the Maoren with the fluency of a native, along with the traditional language of the dragons.

nice. Accepted, but first; how heavy is she? I just want to make sure that her flying ability makes sense for her weight.

I'm also working on two ground dragons inspired by my pet bearded dragon.

Her weight is in her character sheet. She's 18 tons, which should be accurate for a flying dragon her size. Her speed is still pretty surprising, but I thought she would be capable of it if she had large enough wings.

Eighteen tons on an eighty four foot dragon? Yeah, no. Dragons that size would be lucky to get four tons. Even that's a stretch.

Way to heavy. Tyrannosaurus Rex weighed eight tons and could barely reach 30mph. Look at modern day birds.

A modern day Bald Eagle has a six foot wingspan, but weighs 15.5 pounds AT MOST.

Good luck learning to fly with that weight.

That's not her length, Operator. That's her wingspan.

She's not an eastern dragon, either. This isn't a dragon that's long and thin. It's a thick, heavily-built dragon with a ton of horns, spines, and a club-like tail. With dense muscle, it's not relying on being light to fly. It's relying on large, powerful wings that are strong and large enough to support weight.

She looks more like this, minus the front legs, and with a larger wingspan.

She will probably need some sort of runway to pick up speed though vipes. I'm fine with her weight with her wingspan, but if you have an 18 ton airplane and an 18 Ron helicopter the airplane is going to get off the ground and the helicopter isn't. Besides that, she's completely fine in my book.

Well, she probably will get a running start...that, or she jumps off a cliff and uses the speed gained by the acceleration of an object in free fall. I don't expect her to do a vertical takeoff.

The next dragon I'm making is three feet long, and has a wingspan three times its length, and it weighs only eight pounds, and looks sort of like an anole. He walks more like a komodo dragon, though, and when he's trying to run, which will be pretty often, he looks kinda weird. Imagine a dragon moving in a similar fashion to Dunsparce from Pokemon. He hops and flaps his wings, and it looks kinda awkward.

That sounds fun.

Also, I am going to add a "region" section to the sheet, as I am currently working on the regions. I'm assuming this dragon is from the Mountains?

two more draggiesL

name: Sunspot

gender: female

age: 150

region: Northern Desert

length: 20 feet (30 if you count her tail)

weight: 1 ton

species: Sun dragon (bearded dragon)

appearance: Sunspot closely resembles a giant bearded dragon.

These legs boast large talons that

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/222/c/1/Moondance_by_Hndz.png

Time.

Well for starters:

1. There's not much of a sense of impending doom and mysterious death machine if you show it being awakened in the OP (and revealing what it is capable of; plus heatproof does not equal melted rock proof).

2. Machines don't think (also, I have this thing about using "darkly" as an adjective [especially in thought]; I don't know why, it just annoys me).

3. Referring to your character, Maxx, how can he be a direct descendent of Wan if Wan was made for ending the war and then promptly getting stuck in a cave?

1. The characters won't know that the machine was turned on

2. magic and suspension of disbelief

4. Dragons can live to be 500 years old, and can breed when they turn 50. Wan was probably in his prime, which is about 200 for most dragons. I think he had plenty of time for baby-making.

1. Why not exempt us from that sort of knowledge? It provides no mystery or suspense for the other writers that is participating in your story. Total turn off.

2. Machines think because magic. I think tvtropes has an article regarding that phenomenon. In any case, shoddy reasoning.

3. Having sex in the middle of a battlefield while plowing through your enemies, covered in their blood, sounds pretty boss, yeah.

2/10 not convinced.

1: it's kinda obvious that the machine's gonna wake up dude. Why else would I talk about it?

2: it was enchanted to eliminate any and all dragons, but the cave-in combined with the earthquake made it go haywire.

3. He didn't spend his entire freaking life battling! He was born during the war, but he didn't spend his entire life fighting!

I don't see why you feel obligated to come and police Maxx about his thread, and I don't really care. I have no part in this, and I don't want to.

But I just wanted to put that out there.

I'm gonna agree with Operator and stay out of this.

Also, I've decided that Tenebris (The tiny dragon I'm making) Isn't going to be clumsy or pitiful in appearance. He's going to be sleek, fast, and deadly...maybe with a build like a greyhound or something.
