Nationality: Translucent blue (you can see through him)
Physical Appearance: Atom is a unique individual, having been severely altered in appearance after...things happened. Atom appears as a humanoid individual of average height and body style for a teenager. He's not scrawny, but really isn't muscular either. Of course, the first thing you'd realize about Atom is that he's translucent; you can see straight through him, with the exception of his violet eyes, which cannot be seen through. Atom resembles Dr.Manhattan from Watchmen a lot in these respects, though he is scrawnier and isn't as idealistically perfect. Atom has a rather gaunt face with a hooked nose and kind eyes that are completely purple. Atom doesn't have a speck of hair on his body, including his head. In the center of Atom's chest floats what looks like a purple human heart which floats in midair and beats in a rather slow and methodical heartbeat.

Attire: Atom wears what he awoke in; a skintight orange jumpsuit resembling the suits that NASA astronauts wear. In the front of the jumpsuit are the words "Sparrowdale Academy" in black lettering.

Hobbies/skills: Atom's only skill is the ability to do your homework for you in thirty seconds flat. He's a genius.
History/Bio: Atom is known of as a bit of an urban legend at Sparrowdale, kind of like Area 51 or Elvis still being alive. It is said that many years ago, Atom was a young Russian meta-human being experimented on by Czar Nicholas III to be used as a weapon. His scientists tortured him (back then he looked like a regular human), and attempted to extract his immense power to use for some sort of bomb. But, before they could figure it out, Atom went through a massive burst. The burst made a massive explosion and completely incinerated the lab he was in, leaving behind only a crater. This is known as the Tunguska Event. Atom, however, was never recovered, until 2008 when he re-appeared in the middle of the Mojave Desert. He attempted to re-assimilate into life in America, but the burst had changed his appearance so drastically that he no longer looked even slightly human. The government was going to capture him, but Sparrowdale got to Atom first, and took him to the Academy. There, he lived a relatively peaceful life until one day when he was in science class and his teacher was teaching about Newton's Laws of Motion. The teacher showed the class a perpetual motion machine (one of those thingies with all the spinning circles), and Atom attempted to stop it. This triggered a massive explosion, killing several students and destroying the lab. Atom was rendered unconscious, and was taken to Stasis so that something like this could not happen again. Unfortunately, though, when Pestilence broke out, it smashed the control panel on Atom's stasis chamber, waking him up.

Abilities

Power Class: energy, technically

Power: Atom has the ability to manipulate the Higgs-Boson field, a plane existing through all of space-time that controls mass. He can intensify the mass of objects, causing them to become heavy and slow-moving, or he can make objects' masses infinitely light, causing them to float away. Because of this, Atom can also control the speed of objects. He can, in theory, allow objects to travel at faster-than-light speed (though he can't use it on himself or other humans because humans aren't exactly rated for that many Gs and would pop like a balloon). In addition, Atom can create clouds of Hawking radiation to assail his enemies with (basically it causes mass to break down, similar to acid but stronger), though he can't really control the radiation. It just kind of appears in big clouds where he wants it to appear (Hawking Radiation is invisible, but for the sake of the rp it will appear as purple clouds). Also, for some reason, electronics do not work well around Atom. No one is sure why, but most electronics glitch or just plain out break when he is present (the headmaster actually had to make his stasis pod specially so that Atom couldn't break it).

Weaknesses: Well firstly, Atom is weak to energy powers, as he cannot alter particles which have no mass (like lightning or Johnny's Emotional Energy). Secondly (and more importantly), Atom can't always control his powers because they are so strong. At times, he can mess up and cause his powers to glitch, often ending up in a small explosion that knocks him out for a bit. Atom is affected by his own radiation ability (meaning that if you get close to him he can't use it without killing himself), and any object he makes move at light speed has to be very durable or it will burn up (so projectiles are limited). Fourthly, and most paramountly, Atom cannot alter the laws of physics (besides the whole "mass can't move at light speed" stuff). If he does, it triggers the burst that ended him up in Stasis. If it's bad enough, Atom will actually cease to exist for a period of time, and then reappear (like what happened with the Tunguska Event).

A few things;

1. Atom doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the cast.

2. I personally think that his power is OP.

3. I also don't like the whole "tries to alter the laws of physics and causes huge explosion" thing. It can be easily triggered, from what his bio says.

4. And this is personally my fault for not getting off my @ss and putting this on the OP: Meta-humans haven't been around that. They've only really started emerging around the 1940's.
