Hello! If you are receiving this letter then that means your child (or children) has been specifically selected for Sparrowdale Academy for the Genetically Superior. It has come to our attention that your child(ren) have a gift unique to them and makes them superior to the common man. Whether you know this or not -we've been carefully observing children in as many outlets as we can. Schools are what we observe the most and our records indicate that your child may have an ability. Do not be alarmed--- we, as a school, are based around these unearthly powers and we are just trying to find a place where their skills can fit in among others like them. Below you will find a student form in which you will need to fill in all information from the boxes and any additional information required.
We strongly advise you talk to your children about this, because they may not want to partake in this cause, but trust us, it would be a golden opportunity missed to enhance the spoken child's powers, along normal subjects too.
Now please bear in mind that we aren't forcing you to do anything. This is merely a request and we will handle your precious child with the utmost care. You must bear in mind that if you've been keeping up with the news there's a storm of Anti-Meta-human hysteria building up and it's unpredictable where it may lead. Your child may be wrongly persecuted or killed if outed. Right now the safest place for your child is with us.
You must also understand that you may not see your child(ren) for months on end. We believe that secrecy is security. We are sending from an anonymous address and request that you send letters to this address and this one only. We will confiscate any unauthorized forms of communications with the outside world. We specifically handle these letters. We also ask that you destroy this letter completely to keep our anonymity.

The Othergrounds: The Paradise that simply didn't exist In a nutshell: A modern drama about survival of several super-powered teens trapped in an abandoned academy/mansion/Joint having adventures. What fun. This was one of the many letters sent out by the so called "Sparrowdale Academy of the Genetically Superior" one of the biggest mysterious of America and the growing Meta-human phenonmenon. Meta-human children were reportedly sent to this Academy by the boatload and for months it appeared that the school was going strong. Until one day fairly recently the school went dead. No letters were sent out and hundreds of parents were left in the dark about what happened. Recruitment letters were sent from anonymous locations--- usually empty or fake buildings were set as the return address. It was impossible to track down the school as it didn't exist. What happened to the children was ambiguous and many are actively attempting to track them down. Most assumed the worst that they're dead and it's all a sham. While the more idealistic and optimistic wanted to believe that life in the school was too busy for their children to return. In fact it's another story... The story will center around one particular group of teenagers sent to the school unconscious only to find the Sparrowdale Academy near-desolate for what appears to be months with few instances of a struggle occuring. These people are among the last to be sent to the Academy and are completely unaware of what happened before. Trapped there as the defenses placed don't allow for an easy escape. The story will unfold as the grim truth of why the place (which used to be "paradise") has turned into a ghost town... or mansion would be the more accurate term. Finding new clues and either searching for a way to escape, or a way to survive here. What they don't know is that a powerful enemy will rear it's ugly head and give them a true test that's unlike any other. The main point of this RP is surviving in this empty place known as the Othergrounds. Your character(s) can either want to escape, or take the place because of the freedom. In between there will be character development and best of all the power of friendship. Derp. Also lots of conflict and wangst. Things to know about the World:- Spoiler:

*_The collective Governments are fully aware of the existence of Meta-humans. They just don't openly persecute all of them yet. They only go after the ones that abuse their powers. Though, they keep tabs on as many mutants as they can. They won't be a problem or anything since the Othergrounds are well hidden.
*_There has been incidents caused by Meta-Humans. Notably the "Disaster of Manhattan" where a Meta-human went nuclear and torched the place. Blame has officially been placed on terrorists in an attempt to conceal the existence of Meta-humans. As hard as they try there has been some slips. So a few people could know about Meta-humans.
Things to know about Meta-humans:- Spoiler:
*_There is an effect between meta-humans that causes them to be subconsciously attracted to each other. A meta-human will be drawn to another and even shy ones will want to go out and interact with people they've never met before just because they're meta-humans. There's another effect where if one person becomes a meta-human that their friends and family will be far more likely to become a meta-human themselves. This has been dubbed "The Black Fall Effect" by the school due to a previous incident.
*_42% of humanity are now Meta-humans.
*_All Meta-humans have peak human states (strength, speed, durability, reflexes, etc)
*_All powers will start out weak, but over time as they train it will get stronger and evolve new usages and abilities. Remember: Creativity is the greatest tool in training. Think of that movie Chronicle.
*_There are very few "God-level" meta-humans. None our characters will be one of them.
*_All Meta-humans suffer from physical overexertion if their powers are overused.
*_Powers have something to do with an unidentified energy that surges through people's being.
*_Meta-humans are simply born randomly. No toxic waste or atomic derp spiders.
*_Their powers don't have to be scientifically accurate, but they have to make sense.
*_Most powers manifest between either ten years or twenty years. So most meta-humans are in their teens. There are some cases when powers develop far earlier.
*_ Now this is extremely important. Sometimes after gross-overuse of powers a meta-human may go through a phenomenon known as "Ashing". It's a slow process which a meta-human's cells die at an alarmingly fast rate, and is fatal 96% of the time. The cells will drop off the person's being like ash until they are nothing more than a pile of ash flowing in the wind. Powers will fluctuate during this time until during the last stages of life when they lose their powers and die. However there are rare occasions when meta-humans survive the process--- except with horrible consequences. The worst part is that most don't even know about the risk of ashing it unless told or seeing it for themselves.
Classes of Meta-Humans:- Spoiler:
There are several different powers a Meta-human can obtain, each are categorized.
Super System: Meta-humans under the Super System class are the most diverse. Abilities under this class are abilities that enhance certain aspects of the natural human physical body to superhuman levels. Powers that fall under this class is Super Strength, Flight, Super Speed, Invisibility, Hardening Skin, Phasing, etc
Anatomical/Biological: Meta-humans under the Anatomical class have the ability to manipulate their own bodily tissues or bodily functions, without dramatically altering the original structure or function. Abilities under this class allow Meta-humans to alter their various tissues, or functions which can be enhanced at will. Whether it be changing the color of their skin, or growing new muscles. This class stands out from the Super System class, as the latter allows enhanced natural abilities. Powers that fall under this class are: Skin Manipulation, Muscle Expansion, Space-shifting, Cellular Regeneration, etc.
Elemental: Elemental types are easily the common type of Meta-humans. These Meta-humans have control over certain elements. Most under this class are able to move their element and utilize it in defensive and offensive situations. Often these Meta-humans are able to create their element, and some can even transform themselves into their element. Powers that fall under this class are: Control over fire, earth, water, air, plastic, dust, light, etc.
Cerebral: These powers have to do with the mind. These are common as the Elemental and Super System class Meta-humans. Most that fall under this class are able to do something with their mind or others. Powers that fall under this class are: Telepathy, Emotion Manipulation, Telekinesis, Memory Manipulation,
Energy: Energy types have a power that is related to Energy (Kinetic, Thermal, Electrical, Solar). Sometimes these Meta-humans can fall under the Elemental Class. These Meta-humans aren't as diverse as Super System or Elemental Classes, being able to use energy in their powers. Powers that fall under this class are: Kinetic/Thermal/Electrical/Solar Energy related powers, and force fields, lasers, etc.
Chemical: Chemical Types have a power related to chemicals that the body produces or external chemicals. Sometimes these Meta-humans can fall under Elemental or Super-System. These Meta-human aren't diverse as the Super System or Elemental classes, being able to utilize chemicals. Powers that fall under this class are: Pheromone Manipulation/Generation, Hormone Manipulation, Acid Manipulation, etc
Cosmic: Cosmic type Meta-humans allow powers related to Space itself. These meta-humans have powers related to comets, meteors, asteroids, stars, planets, nebula, quasars, dark matter, the sun, and the moon. Some of these Meta-humans have powers that'd fall under Energy or Elemental. Powers that fall under this class are: Solar Manipulation, Lunar Manipulation, Control over Space Rocks, etc
Spatial: Spatial Meta-humans have powers that relate to Time and Space itself. These meta-humans can bend space and time to preform various feats, or altering the natural laws of space. These powers do not fall under the Cosmic-class. Powers that fall under this class are: Teleportation, Slashing Rifts in time and space, altering distance and space/dimensions, etc
Animal/Plant: Animal/Plant type Meta-humans have powers related to the animal/plant kingdom. Whether it be control over certain animal/plants, transforming into an animal/plant or adopting traits from one. Mystical/Ancient animals also fall under this class. Powers that fall under this class are: Control over birds, transforming into a dragon, etc
Extra-Sensory: This class includes abilities that allow gaining information through unnatural means. Often this can include detecting people's emotions or seeing the past. These Meta-humans can often fall under the Cerebral class if their powers have to do with the mind. Powers that fall under this class are: Pre/Retro-Cognition, Emotion Detection/Empathy, Astral Projection, Etc
Power: This class involves Meta-humans who have abilities related to themselves or the abilities of other Meta-humans. Meta-humans in this class vary. Often their powers can be be taking/copying the powers of others or ampfliying powers. Powers that fall under this class are: Power Replication, Manipulation, Bestowal, etc
Other: Powers that simply don't fall under the above categories.
Bursting:- Spoiler:
Bursting is a technique that all Meta-humans have the potential to unlock. Bursting is essentially the ability to expand a meta-human's abilities far beyond their natural limits using several different forms of the technique. Using Bursting, even the weakest of all Meta-humans have the ability to contend with the world class. These abilities are strong but extremely draining. After using a Burst most meta-humans will experience significantly weaker abilities, and a weakened physical state for a stretch of time. Excessive use of Bursting will trigger Ashing, which will result in slow and horrible death. It varies between each type of Bursting. Even though every Meta-human has the potential to Burst, it all depends on the power that a person has. No one can do any form of Burst off the bat. Some don't even know how to do it. Most of the time in order to Burst a person has to be pushed to their limits to expand their limits. So, desperate situations tend to unlock most bursts. Most Meta-humans who unlock their bursts only have access to one, with few being able to use more. Some can learn how to utilize their Bursts after unlocking them and know how to use them easily.
Lonestar/MrAllenJ Note: Try not to have your characters know how to use Bursts right off the bat. In fact, before you even consider having your character do one; ask me in PMs and I'll give my approval. You can however, allude to it.
These are the many forms of bursting:
*_Alpha Burst: Any type of Meta-human can unlock this Burst. The most simplistic out of all the burst. It is simply over driving and putting much energy into a single command. Whether it be an attack or a basic action. This is easily the shortest of all Bursts and most common burst out there. Most people can unlock this. This is easily the most basic of all Bursts. Using this Burst causes weaker abilities for a period.
*_Omega Burst: Any type of Meta-human can unlock this Burst. Easily the inverted form of the Alpha Burst. Instead of one powerful move, a meta-human's power strength is drastically enhanced far beyond their peak. In this state a single Meta-human are capable of feats far beyond their natural range. Easily this is more powerful than a simple Alpha burst. However, once someone uses an Omega Burst then they will lose access to their powers for awhile. At times this Burst is hard to control.
*_ Gamma Burst: A form of Bursting common for transforming Meta-humans and Animal Type meta-humans. This Burst is essentially transforming into another stronger form, which far stronger. Much like the Omega Burst. However, this form lasts much longer and sometimes is hard to control. In this state most Meta-humans will exceed their normal. When they revert back to their normal form they will be extremely exhausted, and may pass out.
*_ Delta Burst: Elemental, Cerebral, and Energy Type Meta-humans can often access this Burst. It is essentially a stronger version of the Alpha Burst. It is a large explosion of power that is impossible to control or direct. This can only be used for rather offensive purposes, since it mainly only destroys. This is easily one of the most unstable forms of Bursting. It can cause widespread destruction if not used correctly. After using this a Meta-human will go into a temporary coma and may cause injuries to themselves depending on the power.
*_ Zeta Burst: Any type of Meta-human can unlock this Burst. It is considered to be a weaker, yet more versatile form of Omega Bursting. Instead of bringing a Meta-Human far beyond their limits, it brings them straight to their apex. It gives them access to powers that they haven't even unlocked yet, and makes them stronger. This can be used longer than the Omega Burst. Unlike the other Bursts, this one only exhaust the user, doesn't weaken their abilities.
*_Theta Burst: A form of Bursting common with Elemental, Energy, Cerebral, and some Super System Meta-humans. It's the opposite of the Alpha and Zeta Bursts. Instead of a powerful attack or a stronger form of existing abilities, the user can create a barrier using, or strengthen their own defense that cannot be pierced with normal attacks. Once this shield fades the user will experience exhaustion and far weaker abilities for a period. However, this shield can be pierced by a strong enough Burst.
*_ Omicron Burst: Any type of Meta-human can unlock this Burst. A one in a million type of Burst. It can only be used once, afterwards it can never be used again. It causes powers to mutate and change into a different and often more powerful version. Such as a Pryomancer's fire may evolve into a different and more complex flame. Sometimes a Meta-human may get another ability all together, or expand their range. Often the side effects is the standard exhaustion and that they will have to learn how to use their new power after they burst.
The Othergrounds:- Spoiler:
The true name given to the so called "Sparrowdale Academy of the Genetically Superior" is the Othergrounds. It's an immensely large set of buildings which heavily resembles a college of sorts. It's large as a small town and could easily be mistaken for one if one didn't know about it's true purpose. All the buildings have a very Victorian feel to them and are very large. These buildings are rather spread out from each other and there's a walk to each of them. There is a very well made system of pathways that lead to each and every one of the buildings. The Othergrounds in general have a very eerie feel to it. The place is illuminated by the street lights that surround the campus and the lights inside of the buildings. Despite this there's much plant life such as trees here. It brings up questions of where exactly the Othergrounds are. Despite it's large size and capability to hold thousands of people--- it is completely devoid of people. The school has signs of a conflict taking place. There's bullet holes and signs of fighting are all over the place mostly in the dorms section. There are also a few rotted dead bodies and dried up blood stains here and there. The Othergrounds are maintained by automated machines known as eyes. These are simple floating robots that are orb shaped and are made with a transparent glass-like material which shows the mechanics under it. These machines float around the school and deploy several arms which hold various tools that are used to repair or clean anything. Right now the majority of them are currently repairing the damage done to the school in the previous battle.
There's a a sort of bubble shaped dome around the school that stops people from coming in and leaving. It's nigh-invulnerable, yet transparent enough to let in sunlight. So the only way out is through secret entrances and exits that are only permitted for use by certain people.
The Administration Building: The main building, basically. It's a large rectangle shaped building that's three floors high and contains several rooms of various sizes. It has plenty of windows--- there's a window for every six feet. These windows have been reinforced just in case anyone tries anything shady (so has the rest of the possible entrances). It doesn't have any purpose except for storing information. Such as files on existing students, and many records (some of which may be deemed redundant). There are several offices on here for various purposes. This building also holds the several "induction-rooms" on the first floor. These rooms are where new arrivals are automatically placed and are sent through several offices where they are arranged to be. There's a super secret hidden... bar for the teachers hidden somewhere.
The Dorms: Self explanatory more or less. This is where the students and staff sleep in separate areas. This building is the largest building in the Othergrounds and is V shaped. It contains several floors and is made to accommodate thousands of people at once. However there are several rooms in this building. There's the student lounge; inside are couches, TVs, vending machines, and pool tables. A theater; which is used for musical/play productions and for indoor assemblies. The Library where several students rent books and buy them.
Plaza: The very center of the Othergrounds. It's located at the very center of the school and it's where all pathways lead to. The Plaza itself is made out of fancy brick walkways, and small walls at the end of every walkway. In the plaza there is several glass tables with chairs surrounding them. Following the state of the rest of the school most of these tables have been overturned and destroyed. At the very center of the plaza is a fountain, it's very large and has a statue of the Headmaster (James Baron West) on it. The Statue is surprising in good shape other than the hole in the chest of it.
Park: Leading out of the dorms is the park. It looks much like a usual park which trees and all of that. There's also several large fields for sports such as football and baseball fields. This place is made for outdoor fun and is illuminated by several lights.
The Lake*: Leading from the Park is the Lake. A large artificially made body of water set up like a beach. This lake is of clean, clear, fresh water which is constantly cleaned and filtered with the underwater filterer technology. Surrounding the lake is at least half a mile of a sandy beach, with concrete pathways inside of the sand. This place was made to be another place for students to kick back and relax.
The Training Hall: The reason why most people have come to this place. It's easily the second largest building in the school and is larger than two football stadiums. It's a hexagon shaped building and is has three floors--- though it fully appears to be a building of several more floors the first floor is by far the largest. This building consists of several training rooms of various sizes which are all white and tiled like bathrooms. These training rooms were made for durability and can take plenty of punishment before even getting a scratch. They usually have training dummies and elevated platforms for training. There's also a variety of other rooms specific for types of meta-humans such as weather imitation rooms, or swimming pools on the upper floors. After hours some of the rooms are locked off to prevent unnecessary training and injury.
The Arena*: A large building that is connected to the Training Hall. It's roughly half of the size of the Training Hall, which is rather large. It's a building made for large scale competitions, such as sports that the school has mixed with the powers of the students. It's large and oval shaped. The playing grounds itself is surrounded by rows and rows of seats. Which overlook the aforementioned playing grounds. The seats are protected by a transparent see-through shield which can take much damage.
The Medical Wing: Essentially it's a hospital. It's medium sized and circle shaped. It's by far the highest building having five floors. It's where people come to get healed herpaderp. It's where the least amount of fighting appears to have taken place.
Education Wing: Exactly as it says. It's basically a large high-school to teach the students who aren't out of the school yet essential skills. It's a rectangle shaped building that's four floors high. It has everything you'd see in a high-school. There's virtually no signs of fighting here since during the time of the attack nobody was here. However, this building is directly above Stasis and provides one of the only other ways into the cursed room.
Science Wing: A large U shaped building which looks nothing like the rest of the school looks shiny and futuristic. It's the smallest building in the Othergrounds standing at merely one floor. This building is essentially a lab where everything is researched. With all the tools available anyone with techno-pathy or super intelligence that they can invent and discover things far ahead of scientists in the outside world. There's several rooms here and chemicals. However, this place is easily the third most secured part of the school and locked to those who aren't authorized. It's difficult to get inside.
The Sparrowdale Tower: The tallest building in the Othergrounds. It eerily towers over every other building in the place. It's modeled after the Big Ben and shares a similar design. Except it matches the same theme as the rest of the school. There's no clock at the top, rather than a very large bell that's attached to a system which when the bell is rung will transmit the ringing to the rest of the school. It's used to announce when curfew is and isn't in effect. The tower is also used as a large scaled security center. It's high-scale cameras can pick up on everything that's going on outside the school (and what's going on by the windows). However, these cameras are offline at the moment. Inside are monitoring stations for every floor and their respective cameras.
The Headmaster's Mansion*: The residence of the (former) headmaster of the school, James Baron West. It's a large mansion within the school made out of fantastic Ebony Hardwood. It's rectangle shaped. The building is three stories tall and has several rooms, each with their own purpose. This building is incredibly advanced with experimental technology. Doors that open automatically, experimental Eye-bots, and countless other wonders of technology. This is also where the Headmaster's office is located, where he does his business and leads the school. This place has been nearly destroyed in the resulting conflict, with the interior almost destroyed all new technology that'd be useful is gone. This is exactly where
The Proving Grounds*: From the exterior this building is nothing but a blank grey cube of concrete. The interior however is a much different story. This building is made as an obstacle course for new arrivals, and later students who just want a challenge. The interior is a replica of an average high school, with lockers, windows, class rooms, etc. Due to the advanced technology that it's made up of, it's arrangeable. Every single hall down to crevice can have something like a trap, or bars to obstruct students. The building is made to test students powers, resourcefulness, and self control.
Detention Center: Since Stasis is reserved for the baddest of the bad, and exiling students for minor infractions is rather unreasonable. Students that break the rules are sent to the Detention Center instead. The Detention Center is easily the smallest building contained in the Othergrounds. It's shaped like a triangle and three floors high. Inside are several cells made to keep even the most powerful of meta-humans contained. Each are made for a specific type of Meta-human, such as the ones that can teleport and turn into small particles. Each cell is as strong as the doors in Stasis, which can survive a significant blast.
Sub-Basement: The place under the school. There's several entrances throughout the school--- some are locked, some aren't. It's as big as the school and is pretty much a maze. Tons of wires and machinery run through this maze of a complex. It's pretty dusty and run down looking. In this area contains more than the large buildings that the over world contains the power station, the Eye containment center and the sewers run through a large portion of this place. As expected there's plenty of pests running through this place. In addition there's virtually no signs of a conflict here and not a single bullet-hole or body rests here. However, there's one more very special part of the school down there...
Stasis: It's a eerie part of the school underground hidden in the far side of the Sub-Basement. It's a very large and expansive room littered with very large test tube like pods with the top and bottom attached to extremely complex and alien-looking machinery. These are the stasis pods. Inside of them are people deemed too dangerous to be allowed to be let run about the Othergrounds and to be exiled. These pods are made to keep unruly Meta-humans contained in suspended animation and a coma-like state so that they don't escape. Everyone in these stasis pods are a legitimate threat to the Othergrounds and it's imperative that they stay inside of the pods.
Eye Station*: An enormous circle shaped building that's both above ground and under ground in the sub-basement. As the name suggests this is the main factory, storage and repair center for all eyes. This is where the signal for all Eyes originate, and get commands from. Broken Eyes are taken here for their parts to be recycled and repaired. This building also doubles as a testing ground for the Prototype Eyes, such as the Security/Soldier and Builder Eye. This building is locked off for normal student access. But, it's rumored that this place has the key for escaping the Othergrounds. Due to the status, there isn't any interior signs of fighting.
Graveyard: Students are bound to die at the Academy. It was something that was planned in ahead by the headmaster. Made for students and those above to pay their respects. It was a large strip of land with hundreds of graves, each with their Flat Tombstone. The graveyard is surrounded by a black iron fence that looks very Victorian and eerie. It is easily the only place where fighting didn't take place since it offered literally no cover and not a single place to hide.
The Outgrounds*: The name given to the space outside of the school. The school is surrounded by a brick wall with no gates. The Outgrounds is a pasture with a few trees, and some high grass. There's several instances of animals such as birds and bee-hives. The school is contained by a large transparent dome, thus, there's only two miles of Outground between the dome and the school
Things to know about the Othergrounds:- Spoiler:
*_People can admit themselves into the school.
*_The Headmaster was a master-level techno-mancer and used his powers to build the school and it's amazing technology.
*_There are survivors of the incident around. Just that there's very few of them and they're likely in the medical wing injured.
*_New arrivals are gassed unconscious before they enter the school, and placed into induction rooms. So that nobody knows where the school is located.
Rules and Notes:- Spoiler:
1. The usual rules; No Godmodding, Metagaming, Powerplaying, Mary Sues, etc. You should know these by now. 2. I hold the full ability to reject characters for any reason I want to. And what I say goes no matter what. 3. Swearing, Drugs, Alcohol and sex are all allowed to an extent. Don't go overboard and I won't yell at you. I won't allow sex IC-side, fade to black or etc. Just be mature, dammit. 4. Characters are allowed to kill each other if the circumstances are okay. Such as if a fight breaks out. No going around killing characters because they looked at you funny. While I won't be killing characters I do expect characters to die from what would normally kill them. 5. Read the rules. Don't be an asshole and just make a sheet. That's why I'm mentioning this here. On the sheet leave the "Favorite Color" blank or I'll tell you that there's something wrong with your sheet and not tell you what. Don't be the tool who does. 6. Literacy, plox. I expect a paragraph each post, though in some cases it'll be totally okay to make a smaller post. Enormous and detailed posts are nice too. 7. Try to keep things believable, please. No dodging everything, no instant kills, or anything in that nature. Also, show shock when it's appropriate. 8. I'll allow any power as long as it isn't unreasonable nor BS. Even the generic and boring ones. The more creative the better. Time Travel and Mind Control are immediately out of the question. 9. I also hold the full right to tell you to change/limit your power in any way I feel like. 10. Please keep damage to the Othergrounds small scale. I'll be fine with stuff getting broken (it's going to happen). Just don't destroy entire wings or burn it all to the ground. 11. Speaking of which; don't go off exploring/claiming the entire place on your own, please? The place is really huge (and I can't stress that enough) it'll take the fun out of the RP if the place has been fully explored by one character. | I am trying to figure out a good character for this. I want to make someone with super-senses who can smell and hear better than anyone else, with good night vision, and the power to see frequencies outside the visible light spectrum, but I wanted to hinder them by saying they were completely color blind and saw things in shades of black and white, so I don't have to make up imaginary colors...then, I wanted to say they had wings and could fly, but were fragile because of hollow bones...should I take out the wings, or leave them? | |

Not completely invisible, you can still see his shadow, and not completely useless. He can still interact with other things shadows, and their shadows can too. Hair Color: He has medium length dark brown hair Eye Color: Brown Nationality: He has a Mediterranean look. Think Greek or Italian Physical Appearance: Well to start his face needs a bit more detail. His eyes are medium spaced; he has a thin lipped mouth and a nice clear complexion. He’s often seen with a nice even pencil thin mustache and other than that he’s always clean shaven. The only thing that is messy about his appearance is his hair.
As for the rest of his body he obviously has long arms and legs because on his height. He doesn’t have any real distinguishable mark or features on his body aside from a small birthmark located on his left shoulder blade. He keeps his appearance neat. He trims his nail and keeps them short. He also keeps excess body hair at a minimum. ie. Chest hair. He’s not particularly well muscled or anything, but he’s not wiry or Gangly either. Attire: As for his preferred style of clothing, well he tends to dress conservatively despite the fact he’s from a well off family. That means he’s typically seen in a standard black or gray three piece business suit, never blue or pinstripe. Whenever he wears casual clothes he likes neutral colors as well. Beige, brown, black, grey, and white are all you’ll ever see him wear. And as a side note he’s always wearing a hat to cover his hair. His hair is the only unordered thing in his life he has direct control over.
Personality
Innate Personality: Inwardly He thinks in a logical manner. He looks at things in such a way as to try and understand them. He often lies around doing nothing when trying to solve a problem or understand it. Like when doing spelling. So he’s quite often he’s alone and doesn’t like to be disturbed when he’s thinking. Outward Personality: However he’s a completely different person when around others. He’s not the most outgoing person, but he does like talking to others. Often times he will start some sort of intelligent debate to gauge how much his peers actually know about stuff. He does enjoy a good joke, but often his are kinda odd and not very funny to other folks. So he had an odd sense of humor. Hobbies/Skills: He likes to work Sudoku puzzles and play RTS games. Yeah he like video games like any other teen. History/Bio: Nope. Not here. I tend to put in a bit of background in my Ops however.

Abilities
Power: Ceyx’s power is fairly strait forward for the most part. Technopathy. In short he can create a mental link with nearly machine as long as it’s run by a computer of some sort. How advance it is determines how much control and interaction he can have with it. In essence he can hack them with his mind. Things like home PCs for example are of medium complexity and he can gain a large degree of control of these with relative ease. But things like mainframes are currently out of his control for the most part. He can assess them and play around in them, but he’s really not much more than an annoyance and would get expelled from the system if found in it. So he’s gifted, but not a super cyber terrorist or anything like that.
Also. Because of his interaction with Computers he has a very intricate understanding of mathematics. Even when presented with an unfamiliar concept it would only take him, at most, an hour or two to master the concept. That’s partly because of how he works with the Data and different types of computer code made him adaptable in terms of numbers and the like. He’s also good at finding correlations and patterns in everyday life most folk might miss.
Weaknesses: In order for him to use his ability he has to use a large amount of Brain Power. Thankfully his ability allows him to access him minds inner potential while using his Technopathy. But otherwise this extra processing power in unavailable to him. So it’s not like he’s a super genius. It also leaves him disorientated if he’s expelled from a system unexpectedly. Because his mind has to deal with the sudden loss of ability. This extra brain power allows him to sift through all the data that he then can access.
As mentioned above he’s great at math, but when it comes to other for illogical subjects like grammar and spelling he suffers. This is in part because despite the rules set up for these systems, there are too many exceptions for him to truly understand it in a proper way. If there was a set up system for these exceptions he could get it, but there isn’t.
Sometimes people confuse him as well. Most folks he can get a general understanding of, but others that tend to act irrationally he avoid simply for the fact they aren’t predictable. He doesn’t like randomness. The unknown he can deal with so long as it can be understood, but pure randomness he will not tolerate.

Appearance

Physical Appearance: Nicole has an extremely thin, hourglass-shaped form, which would initially make her appear delicate, if she were not built with lean, powerful muscles. Because her mutations are bird-like in nature, her arms have turned into wings. With the appearance of a beautiful avian, her entire body is covered in feathers that are largely pure white, with a soft texture, and remarkable sheen similar to silk. However, Nicole also has scalloped markings on her feathers, similar in form to a female snowy owl. These markings, strangely, possess an adamantine luster, and are practically metallic in appearance, resembling pure chromium in their brightness, but also having a slightly bluish cast, like the element Osmium. As a result, Nicole gives off dazzling reflections that make her entire body seem to glow, although it is possible she does glow, in reality. Her wings, having grown remarkably larger to enable enhanced flight abilities, possess a gigantic wingspan that from a distance appears to be twice her body length (possible wingspan is 11’2”). The undersides of Nicole’s wings do not have markings like the rest of her body, and are completely white, except for the first five primary feathers on her wings, which possess scalloped markings on the edges in a fashion similar to a gull. While the feathers on these wings are often spread out in a shape similar to an eagle’s, Nicole can close together the spaces between them in order to increase her wing aspect ratio, and make a shape similar to that of an albatross’ wingtip. The hands on her wings located at the carpal joint that take the place of alula, have adapted to become more powerful. Although shaped like normal human hands, the pinkie finger has fused with the wing, and as a result there are only three fingers and a thumb. These hands, starting just past where the wrist would have been, are covered in fine black scales, much like the foot of a bird. Each finger is tipped with remarkably long talons that are razor-sharp. Starting at the base of the hands, there is a streak-like marking of silvery-blue metallic scales that trails onto the middle finger and fades at the very tip of the talon. The talons themselves on each finger also have silver streaks on them, accentuating their curved shape. Nicole’s feet have also transformed as part of her mutation. Like her alula-hands, just below the ankle, her feathers change to black scales. However, the shape of her feet has dramatically changed. Although possessing the original five toes, all of them have grown so that the toes on the outside edges are shorter than the third toe in the very center, and all of them are long and nimble, like fingers. The toenails have turned into extremely large, wickedly curved black talons with metallic streaks accenting their shape. A third toe has grown from Nicole’s heel, making the foot capable of grasping things. Also like her hands, a metallic mark runs down her scales towards her center toe.
Nicole’s face, while still having an oval shape, has altered with her powers. Her entire face and neck are now covered with pure white feathers, absent of markings, which begin as soon as they reach the edge of her face where the hairline and ears would begin. Nicole’s waist-length hair has been replaced by long, thin feathers, tipped with the same metallic markings as the rest of her body, creating an illusion similar to hair, but also further causing her to resemble a bird. Her hair-feathers fall to about the end of her neck, and are curved similar to a Palm Cockatoo’s. Nicole’s nose and mouth have fused together to form a shiny black beak, similar in shape to an owl’s, the feathers on her face making it seem shorter than it actually is. The tip of her beak, much like her talons, has a metallic streak that runs down its center edge, accenting its curved tip and making it seem sharper. Nicole’s eyebrows have faded into feathers, but now form part of small white ear-tufts that run along the sides of her face and end just past her hairline, at the edge of her facial disk. Nicole’s eyes still remain round-almond in shape, with larger-than-average pupils that reflect light, and indigo blue irises, although a few changes are present. The rings around Nicole’s eyes, which are normally pink in humans, have turned black, giving them a wolf-like quality that makes them piercing. In addition to her normal eyelids, Nicole has also developed a nictitating membrane (Third eyelid), which is clear. Although it is unclear if she glows all the time or reflects light, Nicole does appear to glow when exposed to starlight at night.
Attire: Because she is color blind, Nicole never wears anything that has color, as it is too easy to mismatch things that do. As a result, her main outfit consists of a pale grey cotton jumper with a pocket similar to a hoodie’s on the stomach. However, to accommodate her wings, the sleeves have been hacked off, along with much of the sides of the jumper itself, and the holes edges sewn to avoid unraveling, although it was done carefully, so the top would not be inappropriate or revealing. With this Nicole also wears matching grey yoga pants, which are loose and made from a flexible fabric that allows freedom of movement. Around her neck she wears a plain black chord that is tied around a clear quartz crystal, which is beautifully polished, and is never removed. Nicole often walks around barefoot in an attempt to avoid damaging the down on her feet, and because she prefers using her feet instead of her hands to hold things.
Personality
Innate Personality: Nicole by herself is very deep, having many complex thoughts that could probably confuse people, and somehow managing to keep up with them and focus on the world around her as well, despite the number of distractions that assault her regardless of location. Preferring largely to be alone, and simply observe from a distance, she is considered to be a typical loner. Much of this is because she can do more by herself, and before she became a meta-human she was often let down by others if she agreed to be in a group. When alone, she feels more comfortable doing things she enjoys, such as mimicking bird calls, and flying, in general. She also enjoys dancing, but often does not like being watched when doing so, even if she is particularly good at it. Nicole enjoys drawing pictures and writing, crocheting, sewing, and almost obsessively polishing the crystal she wears on her neck, her wings never seeming to stain. However, her powers also sometimes make her more irritable. Due to her incredible range of vision, smell, and sound, she can hear things others can’t, and as a result, ultrasound and infrasound that is normally inaudible to others can be a noisy racket, and electromagnetic waves outside the visible light spectrum can make being around electric devices or radios horribly confusing. Due to having Monochromacy, Nicole can only see in black and white, and cannot distinguish color, which further complicates her ability to see EM waves. She often relies very little on sight, as to do so can sometimes cause embarrassing accidents. Her nose is also incredibly sensitive, and as a result, it is difficult to be around bad smells, or good smells that have strong concentrations. She often is repelled by scents considered to be pleasant, such as perfume and cologne, and may make a disgusted face unintentionally around people who wear it. She also harbors jealousy towards those with normal hands, considering strong fingers and wrists to be a luxury she does not have. Overall, however, Nicole is extremely energetic, and always seems to fidget restlessly, as though her hands (Or feet) must always be occupied with something.
Outward Personality: Preferring not to make enemies, Nicole tries to be respectful towards people, although sometimes she doesn’t always pull it off. Something almost always seems to go wrong when she speaks to someone, and the results make her dread meeting new people. Often, things that wouldn’t bother most, like holding a cell phone or electronic device, will make it hard for Nicole to focus on a conversation. If someone is wearing perfume or cologne, she will involuntarily wince or paw at her nose, because the smells are often too heavily concentrated or strong, and it can make her nose burn. Habits people act on without thinking, like drumming fingers on a desk, are extremely distracting, as well as annoying. Because of this, Nicole tries to be polite, but might end a conversation quickly, afraid of saying anything rude or harsh, and then walk away before she does something wrong. For her, communicating is very tiring, simply because her senses can split her focus and distract her, or she finds someone repellent. She also struggles to see things from someone else’s point of view, considering she does not know what colors look like, and the fact that she also sees things others do not. It is a similar case with hearing and smell, and therefore people cannot describe events to her without being asked a million questions. A similar issue results when Nicole tries to describe things from her own point of view.
A few occasions when she will actively show anger or disgust is when someone makes fun of her for being color blind, or when people complain about what their powers have done to them. Upon hearing people whine about their situations, she will often angrily tell them they are lucky, as most people can confirm that their hands are still useful, having strong fingers and wrists, and that she didn’t realize how wonderful strong human hands were until she lost them. Because of her general dislike of people who pity themselves, Nicole can often be considered mean or forceful, although part of her anger is envy.
Hobbies/Skills: Nicole is amazingly skilled with various techniques that require attention to detail, as well as nimble or small hands, without needing a lot of strength. A fan of soft fabrics and intricate patterns, she is skilled at crocheting, one of few kinds of work she can do with her alula-hands, in addition to being able to sew tight stitches by hand, a skill she uses frequently to patch holes in her clothing, or make openings in new shirts to fit her wings. She also likes to polish stones by hand, having a knack for figuring out the effects of various textures on certain kinds of rocks. In addition to these skills and hobbies, Nicole also loves to draw, read, and write, although she must find a special location free of distractions to do so. She is also a good dancer, and an agile flier, but she does not like to be watched while doing these things.
History/Bio: Nicole was born in a suburb of Texas, and grew up her entire life in the same small neighborhood community, her parents quickly discovering that she was colorblind at the age of three, when they learned she could not distinguish colors. However, she never suspected anything strange about herself until she began to mutate at the age of ten. When this happened, her toes elongated, and her hands changed anatomically. Suddenly, she found that she could no longer grasp things that normally weighed very little before, and her bones became hollow, making her half of what her weight should have been. In addition, soot grey feathers began to sprout on her arms, and her hair changed to be the same color, her nails turning black. Her eyes, which had been grey originally, deepened into a shade of indigo blue, and her vision, although always having been in black and white, altered as she began to see frequencies outside the visible light spectrum in the form of different shades, and developed powerful night vision. Shortly after, her sense of smell and hearing altered as well, giving her three super-senses that can never be turned off. However, she was often miserable because of this. Her parents had to come up with excuses to keep her from going to school, before finally withdrawing her completely and arranging for her to be homeschooled. Still, Nicole could hardly focus, as her super senses distracted her heavily from her work. Eventually, though, what she now calls the ‘cygnet stage’ was over, and at the age of thirteen, her grey feathers fell out, being replaced by pure white ones, and her hair also changed color as well. When her new feathers grew in, she gained the ability to fly, which she enjoyed greatly. Abilities
Power Class: Animal, Super System, Cosmic, Energy
Power: Nicole’s first, and most obvious ability, is flight, similar to most birds. Due to the size and build of her wings, she is capable of flying at an average speed of 105 miles per hour, and reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour in a stoop dive, making it nearly impossible for people to outrun her on land. She can perform incredible maneuvers in the air, soar and glide, and can even hover and fly backwards, due to the ability to change her wing aspect ratio. Because her arms transformed into wings, Nicole’s hands lack proper wrists, and are unable to move as effectively, but are tipped with large, razor-sharp talons that can crush things with surprising force. Nicole’s large wingspan also makes her capable of attacking opponents much larger than her in the air, and a blow from one of her wings can cause severe injury. Her feet, which have long toes that are nimble like fingers, are built like a bird of prey’s, tipped with extremely large, razor-sharp talons designed to cut through flesh. Because of their flexibility, they can be effectively used in the place of hands to hold and grasp things. The power in Nicole’s feet by far surpasses the strength of the talons on her alula-hands, and allows her to create a powerful vice grip that can break bones. Her second, less obvious ability is her powerful eyesight. While she is colorblind, and thus sees things in a fashion that resembles a black and white film, she has the ability to see electromagnetic waves from the entire spectrum, from radio waves all the way up to gamma frequencies, in the form of different monochrome shades, in a nutshell. The downside is that while this power can be useful, it is also painfully distracting; as she can see any sort of signal or energy that is given off by devices or creatures, which can badly confuse important things such as depth perception. As a result, Nicole seldom relies on sight alone, for fear of crashing into something, although she has incredibly good night vision, and is more likely to use it when it is dark. Her sense of smell, overall, is perhaps unrivaled by any creature. Her olfactory capabilities exceed that of creatures such as the bear, making her able to detect things from up to 30 miles away, although much like her eyesight, her nose can be hypersensitive, and even a small smell can overwhelm her and make her feel sick. Her auditory capabilities, like her sight, are unrivaled in their hearing range, Nicole being able to hear both infrasound and ultrasound, as well as allowing her the incredible sensitivity that is similar to an owl’s in accuracy. However, just like all her sensory powers, her hearing makes her extremely vulnerable. High or low-pitched sounds are audible to her, and everything sounds much louder, so it is easy to hurt her by placing the decibels of a sound past the pain threshold, and adjusting the hertz to a level only she can hear. Even if a weapon is not used, just shouting close by can cause pain.
Nicole’s final power, which she only uses when she absolutely needs to, is the power to shoot a powerful blast of white plasma from her mouth, drawing the energy from a source that possibly comes from a distant star, as she does not contain the energy in her body until moments before she uses the attack, and appears to glow when exposed to the light of stars. This plasma, taking a form that seems to be a beam of solid white lightning, is extremely powerful, and illuminates the area around it, effectively dispelling shadows and rendering powers linked to them useless when the attack is used. This attack in strength surpasses most normal energy attacks, and requires a large amount of energy, so it can only be used once in a fight before Nicole exhausts herself. As a result, it is a last resort attack. Because of the speed and power of the beam, it is impossible to dodge. However, certain kinds of defenses or mutants are capable of withstanding the attack.
Weaknesses: Because she needs to be able to fly, Nicole weighs relatively little, and has hollow bones. While they are remarkably strong, and can take several hits, plenty of specific kinds of attacks, or people with super strength, can break them. Her eyesight, while unrivaled in the capability to see frequencies, is also a weakness, because she is colorblind, and sees EM waves in shades of black and white, rather than new colors. As a result, electrical devices, as well as anything else that gives off energy otherwise not in the visible light spectrum, can badly disorient important senses, effectively making her blind. Her sense of smell, similar to her eyesight, can also be overwhelmed by bad scents, causing a reaction sometimes compared to a case of asthma, as she will struggle to breathe, and begin to panic. Her hearing, however, by far, is her worst weakness. Because she can hear frequencies outside human ranges of hearing, she is easily injured by weapons that would be harmless to others. Already able to hear quiet things, simply shouting close by can cause pain. However, by taking a sound and changing the frequency so that it does not affect human hearing, and then adjusting decibels past the pain threshold, Nicole can be effectively beaten without harming anyone else, because she is the only one that can hear the loud noise. Nicole’s White Plasma attack, while impossible to dodge, can be blocked by very thick shields, or withstood by stronger mutants, although if hit directly, it will still cause a large amount of damage. The main disadvantage is, while extremely powerful, Nicole can only use this attack once per fight, as it severely drains her.

| almost enough to get the IC up. I foresee Nicole and Cyex have issues. simply became of the natures of their powers. as his power is tech oriented he'd prefer to be around technology.
and they have while not exactly polar personalities, they would be different enough for communication the be difficult I feel. Cyex like to be alone while thinking and not to be disturbed while Nicole is a total loner. Cyex like folk, but is simply selective a to whom he like to be around. o I foresee oddne when they meet. | |

| Nicole is actually based a lot off of myself, in regards to personality. She tries to be nice to people, but if she thinks she can't do it, then she'll try to end the conversation and get away, which is pretty often. She doesn't actively seek to be social, and doesn't mind being alone, so that's why she's a loner. She also can't really understand another person's point of view, because she doesn't see in color, she was born colorblind, and her senses make it impossible to understand how others see the world.
As for conflicts, she doesn't dislike technology because of a stupid reason. The reason she doesn't like it is because it's practically like seeing one moment, and then being blinded by a bunch of different colors the next. She can't see where she's going, and she might do something horribly embarrassing, like fly into a wall or something. However, she can use her hearing and smell in such cases, but machines give off humming noises that would be distracting, too.
She would try to be nice to Cyex, but he might notice the swan girl seems to be avoiding him after awhile. | |

| I knew thats why shed avoid him. he himself wouldn't emit any kind of EM radiation exert perhaps while connected to a computer. but the turf with him might bother her. so yeah. | |

| Well, it's possible for the two to talk, but he would have to walk out far into the woods or forest or some other isolated non-technological area to speak with her, because anywhere else in a technologically advanced dome is probably too much. She's actually got a bunch of unique skills. She can pick up things about a person just by smell. | |
